  • Conduct a thorough review of the Spanish translation of the training toolkit for Basic Emergency Obstetric and Neonatal Care (BEmONC) and Long-Acting Reversible Contraceptives (LARC) Clinical Competencies, including making comments and suggestions for anything that needs to be corrected by the translation company
  • Contribute to a Spanish-English glossary of key BEmONC and LARC terms
  • After approval of the translation, conduct a thorough review of the designed version of the document to ensure that all of the Spanish text has been correctly inputted by the graphic design company into the designed document

UNFPA is seeking three native Spanish speaker to review the Spanish translation (approximately 300 pages) of the Guidance. The reviewer will be expected to correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation of the Spanish translation that has already been produced, including clarifying meanings, checking for consistency, and polishing style. After reviewing the Spanish translation, the chosen candidates will also be asked to produce a short Spanish-English glossary of key "Basic Emergency Obstetric and Neonatal Care (BEmONC) and Long-Acting Reversible Contraceptives (LARC) Clinical Competencies" terms for UNFPA’s internal use.

Upon validation of the translation, the reviewers will additionally be asked to review the designed version of the toolkit to ensure that all of the Spanish text has been properly inputed by the graphic design company and to confirm that it is ready for publication. The reviewers will check that all text has been included and formatted correctly, in addition to helping to ensure that the design of the Spanish version aligns with the English publication.

Both the translation review and the design review will take place in multiple rounds, allowing time for feedback and corrections from the translation and design companies.

In total, the assignment will require around 100-120 hours of work should take place between the 15th of May and the 15th of June.

The Online Volunteers will have the opportunity to build connections with the humanitarian team at UNFPA and learn about the ways in which the translated product contributes to sexual reproductive health in humanitarian settings.

  • Native Spanish speaker with excellent grammar skills and with a very good command of English
  • Experience with Sexual and Reproductive Health programs desired
  • Clinical background preferred (nurse, midwife, medical doctor)
  • Previous translator or interpreter experience is an advantage
  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy are vital
