UNFPA proposes a 10-day ‘BEmONC and LARC Clinical Competencies in Humanitarian Settings’ Master Training to improve key SRH staff’s clinical competencies as well as their facilitation and mentorship capacities to support front line workers in delivering quality BEmONC and LARC services.

This competency-based training focuses on refreshing knowledge, skills and attitudes of midwives, nurses, nurse-midwives, medical doctors and gynecologists/obstetricians to prevent and manage the main direct obstetrical complications, to resuscitate newborns and to provide LARC. More specifically the following competencies will be taught:

Prevention and management of Postpartum Hemorrhage (PPH), including the use of uterotonics and manual removal of placenta Management of Pre-Eclampsia and Eclampsia (PE&E) Management of maternal sepsis Assisted vaginal delivery using vacuum extraction Uterine evacuation using medication and Manual Vacuum Aspiration (MVA) Neonatal resuscitation Provision of IUD and implants This training will contribute to UNFPA's work to ensure that the Minimum Initial Service Package (MISP) for Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH), is available for all people in emergency contexts.

The online volunteers will be working on the following tasks: - Conduct a thorough review of the Arabic translation of the training toolkit for Basic Emergency Obstetric and Neonatal Care (BEmONC) and Long-Acting Reversible Contraceptives (LARC) Clinical Competencies, including making comments and suggestions for anything that needs to be corrected by the translation company - Contribute to a Arabic-English glossary of key BEmONC and LARC terms - After approval of the translation, conduct a thorough review of the designed version of the document to ensure that all of the Arabic text has been correctly inputted by the graphic design company into the designed document

UNFPA is seeking two native Arabic speakers to review the Arabic translation (approximately 300 pages) of the Guidance. The reviewer will be expected to correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation of the Arabic translation that has already been produced, including clarifying meanings, checking for consistency, and polishing style. After reviewing the Arabic translation, the chosen candidates will also be asked to produce a short Arabic-English glossary of key "Basic Emergency Obstetric and Neonatal Care (BEmONC) and Long-Acting Reversible Contraceptives (LARC) Clinical Competencies" terms for UNFPA’s internal use.

There are two training modules that are being translated into Arabic: 1. Vacuum Asssited Birth 2. Long-Acting Reversible contraceptives The two volunteers will each take up one module to proofread. Both will work on a glossary of terms English-Arabic.

Upon validation of the translation, the reviewers will additionally be asked to review the designed version of the toolkit to ensure that all of the Arabic text has been properly inputed by the graphic design company and to confirm that it is ready for publication. The reviewers will check that all text has been included and formatted correctly, in addition to helping to ensure that the design of the Arabic version aligns with the English publication.

Both the translation review and the design review will take place in multiple rounds, allowing time for feedback and corrections from the translation and design companies.

In total, the assignment will require around 100-120 hours of work should take place between the 15th of July and the 15th of August.

The Online Volunteers will have the opportunity to build connections with the humanitarian team at UNFPA and learn about the ways in which the translated product contributes to sexual reproductive health in humanitarian settings.

• Native Arabic speaker with excellent grammar skills and with a very good command of English
• Experience with Sexual and Reproductive Health programs desired
• Clinical background preferred (nurse, midwife, medical doctor)
• Previous translator or interpreter experience is an advantage
• Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy are vital
