  • Conduct a thorough review of the Arabic translation of the UNFPA Guidance on Cash in GBV Case Management, including making comments and suggestions for anything that needs to be corrected by the translation company
  • Produce an Arabic-English glossary of key CVA and GBV terms for UNFPA’s internal use, to align with glossaries produced by CALP and the GBV Guidelines whenever possible
  • After approval of the translation, conduct a thorough review of the designed version of the document to ensure that all of the Arabic text has been correctly inputted by the graphic design company into the designed document

UNFPA is seeking two native Arabic speaker to review the Arabic translation (approximately 50 pages) of the Guidance. The reviewer will be expected to correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation of the Arabic translation that has already been produced, including clarifying meanings, checking for consistency, and polishing style. After reviewing the Arabic translation, the chosen candidate will also be asked to produce a short Arabic-English glossary of key cash and voucher assistance (CVA) and GBV terms for UNFPA’s internal use.

Upon validation of the translation, the reviewer will additionally be asked to review the designed version of the Guidance to ensure that all of the Arabic text has been properly input by the graphic design company and to confirm that it is ready for publication. The reviewer will check that all text has been included and formatted correctly, in addition to helping to ensure that the design of the Arabic version aligns with the English publication.

Both the translation review and the design review will take place in multiple rounds, allowing time for feedback and corrections from the translation and design companies.

The Online Volunteers will have the opportunity to build connections with the humanitarian team at UNFPA and learn about the ways in which the translated product contributes to cash and voucher in humanitarian settings.

Candidates should be native in Arabic and fluent in English. Familiarity with technical terms related to Gender-based Violence and Cash & Voucher will be considered an advantage. Previous translation experience is considered an asset.

Additionally, previous translator or interpreter experience is an advantage as well as editorial training. Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy are vital
