Overview

Assist with policy, data analysis, and communication tasks in HR

You have:

  • Enrolled in an accredited first-level, higher education programme (Bachelor or equivalent) or graduate school programme (Master or higher or equivalent) or graduated with a university degree related to Human Resources.
  • Literacy in the use of standard software applications including MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) is required.
  • Demonstrated keen interest in the work of UN in emergencies is required.
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English.
  • Ability to interact successfully with individuals of different cultural backgrounds, including willingness to understand differing opinions.

Expected duration

3-11 months

Duties and Responsibilities

Interns may be assigned matters including but not limited to: - Policy support: - analyze and review policy and legal documents and summarize essential issues regarding policy development. - create research papers addressing legal issues. - provide insights aligning with UN best practices. - prepare visually engaging reports, presenting complex information in a clear and accessible format. - Conduct data analysis in qualitative and quantitative ways. - Participate in strategic communication brainstorming, develop meeting minutes, and attend other special events (workshops, trainings, and seminars). - Apply advanced technologies to implement innovative solutions. - Ensure the intranet site serves as an effective communication platform.

Qualifications/special skills

Education

To qualify, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

  • be enrolled in an accredited first-level, higher education programme (Bachelor or equivalent);
  • be enrolled in an accredited graduate school programme (Master or higher or equivalent); or
  • have graduated with a university degree (as defined in the paragraphs above), and if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation.

The university degree must be related to Human Resources.

Work Experience

To apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship no working experience is required. - Literacy in the use of standard software applications including MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) is required. - Demonstrated keen interest in the work of UN in emergencies is required. Demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views is required.

Languages

Excellent command of spoken and written English.

Additional Information

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS - Specialization in Human Resources Management. - Experience in policy, legal, or project management matters. - Advanced IT Skills – focusing on data analysis and visualization, software applications (e.g., Power BI), organizational networks, or cloud computing. - Strong organizational skills. - Excellent communication skills (different types of texts, comms channels, and audiences). - Creative thinking and growth attitude. - Knowledge of Arabic is an asset.
