- Native level command of French and/or Spanish is essential.

Duties and Responsibilities
Four individual contractor will support the CMS Secretariat remotely during and after the 15th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP15), taking place in Campo Grande, Brazil from 23 – 29 March 2026. The individual contractor will be part of the translation team remotely and translate official documents 2 from English into Spanish and vice versa and other 2 from English into French and Vice Versa. Reporting Line: Legal Officer and Head of Conference Service
Qualifications/special skills
Recognised 1st Level degree with 5 years of experience with strong editing and writing skills, relevant experience, and ability to pay close attention to detail and ensure accuracy, is required. Knowledge of terminology used in the UN, UNEP and the CMS Secretariat is required. Demonstrated experience working with large documents is required. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines is desirable. Experience in the translation or publications field and the past experience with CMS is a highly desirable.
Languages
Native level command of French and/or Spanish is essential. UN, UNEP and CMS terminology must be respected and coherency in the vocabulary used must be maintained. Verification of terminology and accuracy of quotations reproduced are the responsibility of the Translator team. In case of text ambiguity, the Translator team should contact the officer requesting the work for clarification, preferably by email. The Translator team member will use the official documents of the CMS, UNEP and UN as reference sources. These documents are published in the following website www.cms.int (CMS).
