Result of Service Final draft MOP8 report.

Work Location Hungary or remotely due to Covid-19

Expected duration 11 days for the first reporting writer and 9 days for the second report writer in total. The first report writer will finalize the report after the meeting why he needs two additional days.

Duties and Responsibilities Under this assignment, the report writers (2 positions) is expected to produce a well-written, and comprehensive report of the meeting suitable for circulation to the meeting participants for comments. In the accomplishment of this assignment, the consultant is expected to undertake the following main activities:

1. Participate in the MOP8, attending all the sessions of the MOP, with the purpose of taking notes of the debates and decisions taken. The Secretariat will provide the report writer with copies of all the relevant documents, including copies of set speeches (opening remarks etc.) in advance, where they are available. The report writer will also collaborate with the UNEP/AEWA Secretariat in collecting from the participants any written material helpful to the preparation of the reports, and to clarify possible unclear points with the UNEP/AEWA Secretariat, the chair and other participants.

2. Produce a first draft of the report of the meetings using notes and if necessary audio recording from the meeting provided by the AEWA Secretariat. The reports are expected to reflect the main elements of the discussion under each item of the agenda, and possible decisions taken. General reference regarding the format of the report and the level of detail required will be the previous MOP reports. The report does not include possible annexes, such as documents produced by working groups established during the meeting. The report so prepared will be submitted to the UNEP/AEWA Secretariat for review/comments. If necessary, the report writer will produce a second draft of the reports on basis of comments on the first drafts, which the report writer will receive from the Secretariat.

3. Preparation of the report after the meeting, to the stage of the second draft is estimated to require in total an additional two (2) days of work.

Qualifications/special skills Experience with international waterbird conservation and report writing in the UN, ideally AEWA-, context.
