Overview

Provide professional interpretation services at CMS meetings in multiple languages.

You have:

  • Postgraduate degree/diploma in interpreting techniques, English, French and Spanish
  • A minimum of one year of experience in interpreting English-French-English, English-Spanish-English, and French-Spanish-French in international environmental meetings
  • Fluency in English, French and/or Spanish (oral & reading) is required
  • Knowledge of terminology used in the UN, UNEP and the CMS Secretariat is required
  • Membership of AllC is an asset

Result of Service Interpretation services professionally and appropriately provided during the meetings in three languages (English, French, Spanish).

Expected duration Start Date: 19 October 2023 End Date: 29 October 2023

Duties and Responsibilities The Secretariat for the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species (CMS) is seeking interpreters to serve at the following meetings in Samarkand, Uzbekistan:

- 54th Meeting of the Standing Committee (StC54): 22 October 2023 - 14th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP14): 23 – 26 and 28 October 2023 - 55th Meeting of the Standing Committee (StC55): 28 October 2023

The interpreters are needed to work during the COP plenary sessions from 22-26 October 2023 and on 28 October 2023. Meetings will be held in three languages (English, French and Spanish). .

Specific tasks and responsibilities:

1) Providing simultaneous Interpretation from or to the following languages:

- English - French - Spanish

2) Familiarizing themselves with the topics to be discussed via the meeting documents which are available online

Interpretation session is recorded in the digital recording

Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications: Postgraduate degree/diploma in interpreting techniques, English, French and Spanish A minimum of one year of experience in interpreting English-French-English, English-Spanish-English, and French- Spanish-French in international environmental meetings is required. Knowledge of terminology used in the UN, UNEP and the CMS Secretariat is required. Membership of AllC is an asset.

Languages Language: Fluency in English, French and/ or Spanish (oral & reading) is required.
