JOB TITLE: Human Resource Coordinator (Performance & Talent Development) TEAM/ PROGRAMME: Human Resources Team LOCATION: Abuja GRADE: 3 CONTRACT LENGHT: 2 Years CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

Level 3 - The responsibilities of the post may require the post holder to have regular contact with children or young people and, in the overseas context all posts are considered to be level 3 posts in view of potential situations which may allow staff unsupervised access to vulnerable children and young people.

ROLE PURPOSE:

The Performance & Talent Development Coordinator will support the development and management of Human Resources functions in the country office with additional support provided to all field locations. The role holder will serve as the first contact person from field offices on performance and talent development related matters and roving support.

The Performance and Talent Development Coordinator is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing programs that improve employee performance and foster talent development. This role focuses on enhancing individual and organizational capabilities, ensuring that employees have the skills and knowledge needed to achieve both personal and company goals.

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Reports to: Human Resources Manager, Abuja

Staff directly reporting to this post: Human Resources Officer

Role Dimensions: Reporting to the HR Manager, Abuja the post-holder will interact and work with the Country Office and Field Office HR personnel.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Performance Management

  • Manage and maintain the existing performance management system.
  • Coordinate and manage the performance review process, including goal setting, mid-year reviews, and annual evaluations ensuring timely completion.
  • Provide training and support to managers on conducting effective performance reviews.
  • Assist in setting individual and team performance goals that align with organizational objectives.
  • Develop and monitor performance improvement plans for underperforming employees.
  • Maintain accurate performance records and generate reports on performance trends.
  • Assist employees in creating and following through on individual development plans.
  • Create and implement effective performance evaluation tools and metrics.

Talent Development

  • Oversee SCI Nigeria CO Learning and Development (L&D) process, including identifying training needs and developing training programs.
  • Design and deliver training programs tailored to employees' needs and organizational objectives.
  • Monitor and manage leadership development programs to prepare high-potential employees for future leadership roles.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Assist the Human Resource Manager in the development of annual needs for development / training through the formal performance review process.
  • Support career development initiatives and succession planning.
  • Research training opportunities as prioritised by the SMT or as requested by supervisors.
  • Provide support to supervisors to arrange training opportunities for staff procedures.
  • Identify and implement initiatives to enhance employee satisfaction and motivation.

Recruitment and On-boarding

• Conduct end-to-end recruitment ensuring fairness, speed and efficiency throughout the process. In line with SCI’s policy and procedures, guide/conduct all stages of the recruitment process including role evaluation, advertisement/sourcing, long-listing, screening, interviews, background checks, making and negotiating reward offers and issuing of contracts.

• Provide best practice guidance and support to recruiting managers on recruitment planning, presentation of roles, assessment e.g. job descriptions and advertisements.

• Coordinate communication with candidates in a way that reflects SCI’s values.

• Maintain SCI’s induction pack and schedule for new hires.

• Support Hiring Managers to coordinate on-boarding for new hires.

• Participate in interview panels as well as in the short listing and interviewing and negotiating offers for prospective candidates.

• Facilitate routine Global Inductions for new hires.

Human Resource Management

• Assist the Human Resource Manager in the development of annual needs for development / training through the formal performance review process.

• Maintain hard copy personnel filing system and monitors staff file digitization initiatives.

  • Archive personnel files (hard and digital copies).
  • Support the unit’s meetings, and other HR events.
  • Support the field offices in coordinating HR key activities.
  • Process payments for HR-related expenses and keep records accessible for audit checks.

• Assist with the collation of CO and Field office recruitment documents for sign off.

Representation

  • Assist HR Manager in developing and maintaining contacts with other key INGO players to undertake a regular review of their terms and conditions and suggest best industry practices.
  • Assist with the analysis of HR needs of a programme and look for sustainable solutions. Provide a generalist HR service to managers across a full range of HR issues.
  • Assist with representing SCI externally through correspondences.

Other

  • Assist the HR Manager to plan wellness activities for staff in the Nigeria country programme
  • Support with effective welfare and benefit administration for staff.
  • Support with and facilitate the human resource processes in all field locations.
  • Contribute towards effective implementation of SCI Volunteer Management System (VMS) as the focal person in the country office.

Safeguarding

  • Under the supervision of the CO HR Manager disseminate, implement and monitor the SCI safeguarding policy implementation across Nigeria CO.
  • Ensure checks and vetting process for new hires is strengthened.

Other tasks as requested by the Line Manager.

    QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Law or equivalent in relevant field

  • Member of HR professional body and a master’s degree is an advantage

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a Human Resources role in a corporate or INGO environment
  • Proven ability to provide high level support to management teams
  • Ability to plan and organise a substantial workload that including complex, diverse tasks and responsibilities
  • Experience of setting up and maintaining management information systems and office systems
  • Experience of effective budget development and management
  • Experience of negotiating offers and ensuring value for money
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to deal tactfully and sensitively with a wide range of people
