Result of Service The UNEP specialist staff and new and incoming staff should be able to easily access, learn and understand the training through the video materials that are created by the Consultant. The Consultant is responsible for:

1. Creation of a library of video-based content for the Corporate Academy and UNEP Induction Platform. 2. Providing video materials for the learning and onboarding goals of staff and personnel in UNEP.

Duties and Responsibilities Organizational Setting:

The United Nations Environment Programme is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. The Corporate Services Division (CSD) provides essential financial and governance guidance and support to UNEP in the implementation of its mandate to lead the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations System. This position is in the Corporate Academy HR Section Unit of the Corporate Services Division (CSD) at the Nairobi Duty Station and reports to the Chief of Human Resources, Corporate Services Division.

1. Purpose (justification for request);

1.1 Explain the requirement for a consultant/individual:

The Corporate Services Division (CSD) provides essential financial and governance guidance and support to UNEP in the implementation of its mandate to lead the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations System. A key role within the Organization is that staff members with specialized operations functions within the Divisions, Offices and MEAs who support organizational functions and ensure compliance with rules and policies. These staff members have a learning platform to continually update their knowledge and skills in the field of financial, operations and related governance issues that pertain to their work.

Following the launch of the face-to-face Academy in November of 2019, CSD developed an online version of the Academy specializing in the capacity building of UNEP professionals in the field of financial management and related governance issues. This new online version of the Academy will play a pivotal role as a virtual platform for the interaction and exchange of ideas and experiences among UNEP’s administrative and fund management officers.

In February 2021, CSD also developed an online Induction Community Platform to support new hires acclimating to UNEP as there is no centralized induction. The UNEP Induction Community is an online, video-based platform providing easy to digest insights, tips, and advice to help new staff quickly acclimate to UNEP.

The online Corporate Academy and the UNEP Induction Community online are platforms that rely substantially on video-based material. As both platforms continue to add video-based courses and information resources, a consultant dedicated to record, edit and produce video material for both platforms is needed.

The services of a consultant specializing in video editing and communications is required for CSD for the Corporate Academy and the UNEP Induction Platform.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Create, Edit and Produce Videos:

a. Produce new video material on all subjects for the Corporate Academy and UNEP Induction Platform based on curriculum decided on by Stakeholders within the Corporate Services Division.

b. For the Corporate Academy, this material will be based on curriculum modules developed by the relevant specialist staff and units to fulfill the strategic needs of CSD and UNEP.

c. For the Induction Platform, this material will be based on curation of onboarding information and induction documents required for incoming new staff and personnel.

c. Provide each video interviewee with guidelines on the interview questions in advance.

2. Maintain the Video Library in the online e-learning platform. The consultant will be responsible to ensure all videos uploaded to the online learning platforms are updated.

3. Consultant will be responsible for engaging with all key stakeholders in the creation, curation, curriculum development and publishing of the videos.

Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, Electronic Media, Video Production, Graphic Design or similar fields is required. Experience: Minimum of 5 years professional experience in video editing and production is required and must have portfolio of professional work samples reflecting experience.

Strong video editing and production skills is required. Experience with working with online learning platforms is desired. Language: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position fluency in oral and written English is required.
