What we do

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and at the same time promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.

Purpose of the position

Under the supervision of the Head of People Analytics (direct supervisor), the Workforce Planning Advisor leads the Workforce Planning processes and methods at ICRC, supporting workforce planners and their leadership to translate operational strategy into forecasted workforce demand, analyze and prioritize gaps with workforce supply, and determine action plans to address the gaps.

S/he is accountable to ensure that workforce planners have the adequate capability and support to run workforce planning activities at their respective level, and that leaders receive the necessary and full information required to drive decision making and subsequent action. S/he leads the Workforce Planning Application Managers who ensure the maintenance, support and continuous improvement of the Workforce Planning solution.

S/he is exposed to personal and confidential information; in this capacity he-she is expected to understand and uphold strict confidentiality on all HR-related data or issues, in accordance with the ICRC Human Resources ethical guidelines, ICRC Human Resources Management guidelines and the ICRC information security and confidentiality guidelines.

Head of People Analytics

Your accountabilities and responsibilities

  • Lead the Workforce Planning practice at ICRC, continuously adapting to internal and external trends.
  • Act as the Workforce Planning expert for the organization, advising workforce planners and leadership on theoretical and practical aspects of the workforce planning process.
  • Run workshops or sessions to elicit collective insights where necessary (e.g. at regional or global level)
  • Provide continuous training, coaching and support on all elements of Workforce Planning.
  • Prepare consolidated information, analytics and insights at consolidated level (e.g. regional, métier or global) to support decision making.
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration with other units or departments to enable effective action planning.
  • Support workforce planners by providing additional analytics / visualizations to complement those available in the applications, where necessary
  • Leads the Workforce Planning Application Managers, ensuring that the solution remains fit for purpose and that Workforce Planners use it effectively: training, support, maintenance and continuous improvement of the data models, forecasting models and business rules.

Desired profile and experience

  • University degree in Human Resources or related
  • Excellent communication skills, fluency in English required – French would be an asset
  • Proven capacity to work in an international environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity
  • 10 to 12 years overall professional experience, including at least 5 years in a HR business partner role or similar role providing deep understanding of HR practices and their contribution to business strategy
  • Proven analytical skills and experience in using complex data to support decision making
  • Experience in Workforce Planning would be an asset
  • Knowledge of ICRC would be an asset
  • Experience in workshop facilitation would be an asset
