Duties and Responsibilities

The UNRCO supports the UN Resident Coordinator (RC) in fostering collaboration among UN entities to enhance the impact, efficiency, and effectiveness of the UN's operational activities for development at the country level. As the designated representative of the UN Secretary-General, the RC in Malawi strategically positions the United Nations Country Team (UNCT) in alignment with national priorities, development strategies, and plans. Under the supervision of the Head of RCO and Strategic Planner, • the individual translator will efficiently translate the 2-page summary of the Malawi 2024-2028 UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) into local languages. • The translated documents must adhere to the standards of clarity, coherence, and accuracy. • The translation will need to be completed within the specified timeline and delivered in hard copy format.

Qualifications/special skills

• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related field such as translation, linguistics, communications, or international development is required A minimum of two years of demonstrated experience in translation, preferably in the context of international development or United Nations-related documents is required • Attention to detail and ability to maintain consistency and accuracy throughout the translation process is deisrable.

Languages

• Fluency in English and proficiency in at least one local language spoken in Malawi.
