The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme contributes to peace and development through volunteerism worldwide. We work with partners to integrate qualified, highly motivated and well supported UN Volunteers into development programming and promote the value and global recognition of volunteerism.
The UNV-CYVA Full-Funding Partnership (UNV-CYVA Chinese Youth Volunteer Overseas Volunteering Programme) is jointly organized and implemented by the Chinese Young Volunteers Association (CYVA), the United Nations Volunteers (UNV), and the China International Center for Economic and Technical Exchanges (CICETE). Since its implementation, the partnership has deployed almost 130 Chinese UN Volunteers to serve at 29 UN agencies in over 33 countries and regions.
With the launch of the new 2025 cohort, the Project Management Office is seeking the support of Online Volunteers in translating partnership documents that are essential for smooth coordination and communication among all stakeholders and in promoting the Sustainable Development Goal 17: Partnerships for the goals.
To facilitate the assignments selection of new batch of UNV-CYVA Full Funding Partnership (Chinese Youth Volunteer Overseas Volunteering Programme), we are seeking 7 Online Volunteers to support the Project Management Office by translating partnership documents. To this end, the Online Volunteers are asked:
-5 Online Volunteers produce translations from Chinese to English and English to Chinese of Description of Assignments (DoAs). 1 Online Volunteer consolidates the collected DoAs into one summary form and translates the form. 1 Online Volunteer proofreads the key information of DoAs. Approximately, the deliverables include 40 DoAs with around 240 pages and 1 consolidated form. - Ensure the translation is concise and high-quality, in line with guidelines. - Perform other respective duties in line with the scope of the assignment as required by UNV China FU and CYVA PMO.
The selected Online Volunteers will be provided with the document in the original language and will receive guidance on the target audience and guidance as needed.
- Candidates should be native in Chinese and fluent in English. Familiarity with technical terms related to project management and education will be considered an advantage.
- A bachelor’s degree in English, Communication, International Relations, Public Administration or other related field is required, a master’s degree in the above fields is desirable.
- Previous translation experience is considered an asset.
- Candidates should be available and flexible and have a passion to act for promotion of volunteerism.
