The UNDP “STEPping up Nature Reserves Capacity – STEP4Nature” project aims at conserving Lebanon’s natural capital and strengthening the Ministry of Environment’s capacities to plan and sustainably manage protected areas and nature reserves. The project will specifically contribute to the enhancement and improvement of nature reserves in Lebanon from institutional, socio-economic and technical perspectives. The project is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Italian Republic through the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in coordination with the Ministry of Environment of Lebanon.

The recent mushroom assessment conducted by the project in Lebanon's Nature Reserves has identified several edible mushroom species that are not only easy to cultivate but also have high market potential. In light of these findings, small-scale production protocols for these species have been developed. Additionally, mycelium strains have been isolated from the wild to facilitate cultivation.

The next phase of the project involves the design and implementation of Mushroom Kit Packaging materials. These kits are intended to be distributed to women's cooperatives in the vicinity of the nature reserves. The cooperatives will prepare the kits, which will then be sold at visitor centers within the nature reserves. This initiative aims to generate additional income for both local communities and the nature reserves, promoting local biodiversity and providing economic opportunities to community members.

We are looking for three (3) Online Volunteer/s who under the guidance of STEP4Nature Project Officer and in close collaboration with the communications team support us by producing three (3) versions of graphic designs for Mushroom Kit Packaging. In particular, the/each Online Volunteer is asked to: - Collect information on document/material background such as target audience, design style, branding guidelines etc.; - Create draft design based on requirements and discuss with focal point/ communications team; - Develop the design according to agreed requirements.

The design/layout should follow our corporate design guidelines which will be shared with the Online Volunteers in advance.

The Online Volunteer/s will have the opportunity to build connections with the STEP4Nature Project team at UNDP and learn about the ways in which graphic design can support [objective of this task].

Candidates should have professional experience in graphic design with previous experience in designing packaging layouts, and must have in-depth knowledge of graphic design applications, as well as good verbal and written communication skills. A degree in graphic design or related field is considered an asset.
