Deliver Somali language training to enhance capacity in multilingualism
You have:
- A Postgraduate or equivalent qualification in language teaching, education, social science, humanities, or any relevant discipline is required.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in training, education, humanities, especially in regional and international contexts is required.
- Experience teaching Somali language to non-Somalis, preferably UN personnel or other international organizations is desirable.
- Experience in UN peacekeeping missions and delivering similar training in precarious environments such as Somalia is desirable.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and extensive knowledge in Somali language.

Result of Service
Delivery of the Somali language programme to leverage and mainstream multilingualism, which is a core value of the United Nations. Building the capacity of UNSOS and UNSOM personnel by enhancing their skills and knowledge in Somali language through experiential learning and practical exercises. Learners supported to increase their speaking, reading, and writing skills in Somali language.

Duties and Responsibilities
This role is in the Integrated Mission Training Center (IMTC) Section, in the United Nations Support Office in Somalia (UNSOS), duty station Mogadishu. The incumbent reports to the Chief, IMTC. Duties and Responsibilities Pre-training: •Consultant/facilitator develops a six-month comprehensive Somali language training manual and curriculum for UNSOM/UNSOS, with detailed methodology and conceptual framework of the training, timeframe, and deadlines for deliverables, etc. •Consultant/facilitator have meetings and briefings with the Head of IMTC unit, to explain the detailed methodology: delivery method, timeframes, and deadlines, etc. to ensure the curriculum/manual satisfies the requirement. During training: •Deliver the training through facilitation and coordination using interactive and experiential learning methods. •Recap at the end of each day •Promote diverse views by learners. •Promote an interactive and experiential learning methods for learners. Post training: •Produce an in-depth, completed training report, including progress assessments and post-training evaluation reports, summarizing training proceedings, evaluation results of individual participants, evaluation of overall training, key findings, and conclusions. •Proposed follow-up actions and recommendations to improve training format and Content.

Education: A Postgraduate or equivalent qualification / degree or advanced degree in language teaching, education, social science, humanities, or any other relevant discipline is required. Work Experience: Minimum of 5years’ experience in the field of training, education, humanities, especially in the regional and international context is required. Demonstrated experience and knowledge of teaching non-Somalis in the Somali language, preferably personnel of the United Nations and or other international organizations is desirable. Experience working in UN peacekeeping missions and in precarious environments such as Somalia and delivering similar training with UN Agencies, organizations, and international NGOs and excellent facilitation and interpersonal skills are desirable.
