Org. Setting and Reporting This position is located in the Training and Development Section (TDS) in the Division of Specialized Operational Services (DSOS) of the UN Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS).

The Department of Safety and Security is responsible for providing leadership, operational support and oversight of the security management system to enable the safest and most efficient conduct of the security programmes and activities of the United Nations System.

The Security Training Assistant reports to the Security Training Officer, P4, who leads the Learning Support and Design Team.

Responsibilities Within delegated authority, the incumbent of the position is responsible for the following duties:

•Supports management and implementation of security training standards by the Training and Development Section (TDS), primarily by ensuring a high standard of design of training materials and learning tools produced by UNDSS; •Assists the Chief TDS or Security Training Officer in identifying and addressing the security training gaps across the UN Security Management System (UNSMS) through the design and production of visual elements to be used throughout in learning materials and presentations, including logos, graphics and other visual items; •Ensures training data is appropriately communicated through visually compelling info graphics to illustrate reports and presentations as part of regular reporting to the Inter-Agency Security Management Network, UNDSS senior management and legislative bodies; •Prepares security training reports, catalogues and communication tools for all learning programmes, by designing a variety of print material and publications, including graphics, posters, flyers, covers, brochures and catalogues; •Assists in coordination with third-party partners and vendors for training materials and related products, including evaluating and acquiring materials for printed media and selecting and procuring videos and animations, and ensuring satisfactory production and delivery of materials; •Supports the delivery of a client-focused and responsive learning infrastructure (e.g. Learning Management System) and service to field offices by ensuring the appropriate graphic and visual design of all learning and communication tools and as needed planning, production, and captioning of videos; •Supports the monitoring and evaluation of training programmes and their visual learning elements; •Understands, applies and monitors current security training standards, including materials, practical applications, assessments, guidebooks and use of Adult Learning methodologies (including online and blended learning); •Supports and participates in the assessment, delivery and evaluation of the graphic and visual design elements of all learning modules, lessons and courses as well as video production and editing to create compelling digital storytelling; •Reviews feedback and updates the visual and multimedia elements of CBL Programmes of Instructions (POIs) as needed in accordance with the biennial security training schedule; and, •Performs any other duties as required.

Education A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Work Experience At least seven years of experience in administrative and office support functions is required, of which at least one year of qualifying experience in the field of graphic and visual design for training and development is required. Experience with graphic design, video editing or development of media for online learning is required. At least one year of experience and exposure at the international level is desirable. Experience with integrated information management systems for staff administration, Learning Management System (LMS) or other comparable tools is desirable.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French, Spanish or Arabic is desirable. Knowledge of another UN official language is an asset.

Assessment Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
