- Experience with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point) and other relevant software packages is required.
- Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required; Knowledge of French is desirable.
- Professional training/certification technical certification in SCPT, CPRT and power BI is desirable.
Contract

Org. Setting and Reporting
The position is within the Liquidation Entity of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA), in Bamako. The principal duty of the Rations Assistant is to work in collaboration with UN Guard Units for food requisitioning, Quality Assurance verification and timely food/services deliveries. The incumbent is also responsible for record keeping, acquisition plan, invoice verification for timely payment by Finance.
Responsibilities
Within delegated authority, the Rations Assistant, FS-5 will be responsible for the following duties:
• Prepares demand and acquisition plan and ensures efficient procurement actions avowing any shortage and overage. • Prepares budget and related reports for Life Support Section • Provides data for planning general supply and services budget. • Prepares distribution plan, drawdown plan and tracks the progress regularly. • Responsible for financial and invoicing activities of the unit. • Assists in coordinating with the relevant parties in rations supply chain such as rations supply, warehouses, vehicles to ensure that food delivery procedures are in line with stated QA, health, hygiene requirements and terms and conditions in the rations supply contract(s), Hazard Analysis at Critical Control Points (HAACP), CODEX, the UN Rations Management Guideline and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and other relevant international and UN Specifications. • Updates and Implements supply-related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) including on Receiving and Inspection, Quality Control (QC)/Quality Assurance (QA), inventory control, reporting, and invoice processing. • Supervises the process for monitoring consumption, inventory-control, stock-checking and write- off to ensure security availability and accountability of Rations and associated UNOE assets. • Assists the Property Management Task Force in asset disposal and write off planning. • Provides technical inputs as required in the development and implementation of Rations and service contracts, including in preparing Statements of Work, technical evaluations and presentations to Local Committee on Contracts. • Assists in the implementation of internal controls for Contingent rations management and rations record management; documents cases of non-compliance or poor performance and liaises with the Contract Management Section/Unit for review and referral to UN Headquarters (UNHQ), as appropriate. • Implements the internal control systems including maintenance of accurate and complete accounting, reporting and all electronic/hardcopy records to ensure proper audit trail. • Assists in monitoring and analysing contract performance to ensure compliance with contract terms, schedules, and cost objectives. • Assists the Contract Management Section/Unit in the resolution of contractual disputes in the course of contract implementation. • Assist in the management, guidance, development and train staff under his/her supervision. • Performs other related duties as required.

Education

Work Experience
A minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in logistics and supply operations, inventory management, procurement or a closely related area including at least 1 year of supervisory experience is required.

Experience with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point) and other relevant software packages is required.
Experience in managing support services in support of or in a field operation of the United Nations system or a comparable international organization is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English (both oral and written) is required; Knowledge of French is desirable.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
Special Notice
This position is temporarily available within the MINUSMA Liquidation Team until 31 December 2024. If the selected candidate is a staff member from the United Nations Secretariat, the selection will be administered as a temporary assignment.
While this temporary assignment may provide the successful applicant with an opportunity to gain new work experience, the selection for this position is for a limited period and has no bearing on the future incumbency of the post.
Subject to the funding source of the position, the eligibility for this temporary job opening may be limited to candidates based at the duty station.
