Background on IRC

Since 2007, IRC has worked with refugees and other vulnerable populations in Jordan focusing on urban and camp interventions addressing health, protection, economic development, and early childhood development for Syrian refugees and host communities. IRC through its health program has been providing essential Primary and Reproductive Health (RH) services to Syrian refugees and vulnerable host communities in Jordan.

Main Responsibilities

The Pediatrician – part-time will be based in the IRC Zaatari camp facility. The position will be mainly responsible for providing quality clinical care and provides general medical care, monitoring growth and development, and tracking and administering immunizations for infants, children, adolescents, and young adults. As well as diagnoses and treats illnesses, medical conditions, and injuries, ease the lives of children with chronic conditions, and referral of patients to the hospital in the camp when needed.

Pediatrician Responsibilities:

· Respond to medical/health problems presented by patients including history taking, diagnosis, investigation, treatment, and referral as appropriate.

· Prescribing and administering treatments, therapies, medications, vaccinations, and other specialized medical care.

· Educating patients about disease prevention and detection, and reproductive health.

· Keeping up to date with current practices and innovations

· Appling international case definition and disease outbreak criteria in the workplace.

· Maintaining confidentiality and impartiality.

· meeting targets set by the IRC and international criteria for specific treatments

· Keeping detailed records of all patients and the treatments they receive

· keeping up to date with medical developments, new drugs, treatments, and medications, including complementary medicine.

· Maintaining and following high-quality IPC measures and protocols.

Qualifications

Requirements:

1. Job Requirements: Education:

· Bachelor’s Degree in medicine.

· Medical degree and the successful completion of a 4-year residency in pediatrics.

· Board certification and license to practice issued from Jordan MoH.

· Experience practicing medicine/pediatrics.

· Work Experience: Approximately 1-3 years of relevant experience

· NGO’s experience is preferred

2. Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

· Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate with colleagues, families, etc

· Awareness and appreciation of the patient and the ability to empathize with and treat others with dignity and respect

· An awareness of patient safety all the time.

· An interest in others and their wellbeing.

· Emotional balance, patience, tact, and calm.

· Ability to work fast, and accurately and make quick decisions.

· Committed to helping refugees and working within IRC policies.

· Language Skills: Fluent in Arabic

3. Certificates or Licenses:

· certificate degree Doctor of Medicine.

· 4years of pediatrics residency.

· Board certification and license

Working Environment:

The position is based in the Zaatari camp.
