Since IRC has worked with refugees and other vulnerable populations in Jordan. IRC’s programs in Jordan focus on urban interventions in the north that address gender-based violence specifically violence against women and girls for Syrian refugees and host community members as well as primary and reproductive health care services to Syrian refugees based in Ramtha and Mafraq Zaatari and Azraq camp.

Job Overview/Summary:

The Nurse will take on the role of assessing, observing, and speaking to patients. Recording details and symptoms of patient medical history and current health. Preparing patients for exams and treatment. Administering medications and treatments, then monitoring patients for side effects and supporting the medical team. This position is based in Zaatari. Under the direct supervision of the Senior Health Officer, the nurse will provide professional medical care of the highest quality and in accordance with national and international laws and standards.

Major Responsibilities:

The nurse will be specifically responsible for achieving the following objectives:

- Assessing the conditions of the patient, initiating medical attention and performing the role of registered nurse - Aiding the physician as the need arises during treatment and examination; - Updating patient's registration books and other related appointment information; - Maintaining and reviewing patient records, charts, and other pertinent information relating to HIS; - Maintaining patient confidentiality; - Performing other related duties within the clinic as may be assigned. - Preparing and facilitating regular health education sessions for patients at the clinics in coordination with the clinic staff

Internal: Senior Technical Health Officer, Health Manager

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

Education: A certified Nursing degree

Work Experience:1 to 2 years work experience as a nurse

Demonstrated Skills and Proficiencies:

- Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice to give and evaluate patient care. - Knowledge of interpersonal policies, regulations and procedures to coordinate patient care. - Skill in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to both oral and written inquiries. - Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical and clinic staff, and the public. - The ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures. - Have a minimum administrative background and be able to take on medical/non-medical responsibilities - Committed to helping refugees and working within IRC clinic protocols.

Language Skills: Fluent in Arabic. Basic knowledge of English.

Certificates or Licenses: Be certified to practice nursing in Jordan as a nurse and have any other necessary certification from the government, and maintain a license throughout the duration of the hire

Working Environment: The IRC is providing Primary health Care services to the Syrian Refugees and vulnerable Jordanian communities in Mafraq and Ramtha through two fixed clinics and two mobile clinics. This position will be based in any or IRC clinics but will also provide the required services as a nurse in Irbid and mobile clinics as and when needed. The security situation in the IRC intervention areas is generally calm and the security department of IRC shares regular security updates to keep the management and staff informed about new developments.
