National Project Coordinator for MPTF

Organizational Setting

FAO Mongolia works with the vision "to be a leading, credible and responsive partner in ensuring food and nutrition security of the population". The office has been coordinating projects and programmes in research, capacity building, natural resources management, technology transfer, food and agriculture policy, livestock production systems management, emergency, and post-crisis management, forestry information, statistics, food security and nutrition, emergency response operations, crop production system management, and food quality and safety.

Reporting Lines

The incumbent will work under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative, and the technical supervision of the Chief Technical Advisor in Mongolia, in close collaboration with the Regional and Global project coordinators.

Technical Focus

The project focuses on three areas to support the control of antimicrobial resistance using a One Health approach: Governance, Surveillance of resistance against antimicrobials, and Monitoring the use of antimicrobials.

Tasks and responsibilities:

• Coordinate the project activities of the MPTF-AMR project with other Tripartite project coordinators (WOAH and WHO) and with focal points affiliated with national counterparts, in particular, Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industries (MoFALI), General Authority of Veterinary Services (GAVS) and State Central Veterinary Laboratory (SCVL); • Develop, coordinate, organize and supervise the implementation of activities under outputs A (A.2, A.3, A.4) and B (B.1) for which FAO-Mongolia has the lead, • Support Tripartite project coordinators with the implementation of activities under outputs A, B, and C for which WHO and WOAH have the lead in particular activities in which FAO-Mongolia has been assigned complementing tasks, • In close liaison with the FAO country office, ensure that project expenses are regularly updated and reflected in the FAO accounting system, • Produce on a regular basis a narrative progress report as well as financial delivery estimates (every six months), with forecast expenses as well as activities milestones/progress, • Submit a final and end-of-assignment report listing activities implemented, • Promote the activities delivered within the framework of the project, including drafting communications materials and supporting the regular updating of the FAO Mongolia, FAO AMR, and FAO Food Safety website, • In close collaboration with FAO headquarters and FAO-RAP develop communications plans and materials targeted to local audiences using appropriate forms of media (social, tv, events, newspapers/etc), including organizing and participating in regional/country workshops, • Perform other related duties as requested by FAO.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

• Advanced University Degree in Agriculture, Veterinary Science, Social Sciences, International or Business Administration, International Development, or any other discipline related to the work of FAO, • Minimum 7 years of experience in project management, animal health, public health, or other relevant areas, • Working knowledge (level C) in both written and spoken English, • Nationality of Mongolia.

Technical/Functional Skills

• In-depth understanding of the National Action Plan for the control of AMR 2022-2025 • Proven experience in the fields of AMR, AMU, food safety, and the Codex standards related to AMR • Demonstrated experience in project implementation and interacting with national and international development partners, • Experience in developing technical reports and documents, • Teamwork and strong soft skills including interpersonal, ethical, listening, and communication skills, proactive, problem-solving, self-organizing, planning, setting priorities, and efficient use of time,
