ITU is at the forefront of enabling environmentally sustainable digital transformation. Recognizing the pivotal role of digital technologies in climate action and sustainable development, ITU is committed to greening the digital transition and minimizing its environmental impact. Over the years ITU has developed a wide range of online content spread across different webpages related to the role of digital technologies in climate action and sustainable development. ITU’s climate website (itu.int/climate) update aims to systematically link to this information and provide a comprehensive overview from a single location. Your research will ensure important historical information is captured and preserved.
We are looking for 2 Online Volunteers who have experience in online research, and summarizing information in an accessible format. The task includes the following responsibilities: - Identify online resources which will be used to carry out the online research (25%) - Conduct online research on history of ITU's work on environmental sustainability (50%) - Draft a summary of information, including timeline of key events, and information sources (25%)
The Online Volunteer will have the opportunity to build connections with the Environmental Focal Point at International Telecommunication Union and learn about the historical and contemporary role of digital technologies and the United Nations in advancing climate action.
We are looking for volunteers who have extensive online research experience, including the ability to utilize advanced search engine functions, and navigate the Internet Archive effectively. The preferred candidates will have good time management skills, ability to work independently, and accurately summarize and source technical information. A background in environmental studies or a related field will be beneficial. Candidates must be fluent English speakers. Experience in academic or scientific research will be an asset.
