Purpose and Objective of the Internship:

Within the Human Capital Intelligence & Technology team at UNICEF HQ, the People Analytics team supports the Division of Human Resource (DHR) in unpacking people data and providing insights. It also provides leadership in the analysis and interpretation of people data to drive business impact and data-driven decision-making processes, to enhance UNICEF people experience. The People Analytics team performs quality assurance activities to ensure accurate, timely, and consistent information across systems. As the focal point, the team supports requests for people data across the organization, UN agencies, and other entities.

The team produces a series of people analytics reports for targeted audience at the global level, such as targeted descriptive and predictive studies, quarterly workforce and recruitment reports, HR Dashboards with data updated monthly, video tutorials to navigate the dashboards, guides, and tools to support HR practitioners in reporting on people data, and more. The audience of these reports is multiple: all UNICEF personnel globally, the OneHR Community, HR data focal points at regional office level, senior management, etc. It is important to understand to which extend these products respond to the needs of the audience within the organization.

Under the overall guidance of the HR Planning Specialist (People analytics, Planning, Monitoring, and Reporting), the intern will conduct a quantitative and qualitative study on the audience perception, uses, and needs of UNICEF’s people analytics products.

How can you make a difference?

You are excited to contribute to UNICEF mandate and:

  • Design and implement a quantitative and qualitative study on the audience perception, uses, and needs of UNICEF’s people analytics products. The target products include dashboards, quarterly reports, datasets, and other products.
  • Drive impact for multiple stakeholders within UNICEF: the study involves engaging and collecting feedback for analytics products that are currently used by all personnel, OneHR Community, HR data focal points, and the Senior Management.
  • Based on the results of the study, produce actionable recommendations to optimize existing products and exploring the possibility of creating new ones.
  • Leverage the results of the study to propose the key focus areas of a new UNICEF People Analytics global strategy to meet the demand.

To qualify as a champion for every child you should…

  • Be enrolled in an accredited university graduate programme (or graduated within the last 12 months) in Social Science, Statistics, Data Science, Economics, or any relevant field.
  • Demonstrate experience in designing and conducting quantitative and qualitative survey, and/or strategies.
  • Have proven professional experience in coordinating with multiple stakeholders to implement a project.
  • Demonstrate strong data and analytics skills.
  • Have excellent communication, writing and interpersonal skills.

  • Fluency in English is a must. French, Arabic and/or Spanish an asset.

Modality: full-time, working remotely (or in UNICEF offices in New York or Istanbul if the selected candidate is based New York or Istanbul).

Tentative start date: 1st of August 2023

Duration: 6 months

Salary/Payment:

As per UNICEF guidelines, an intern will be paid a stipend of US $1,700 per month if based in New York or 70% of the monthly salary of the GS level 3 step 1 in other duty station if telework from outside. There is no expectancy of employment at the end of the internship.

Insurance:

UNICEF will not be responsible for costs arising from accidents and/or illness incurred during the intern’s service, whether on or off UNICEF premises. Therefore, the selected candidate must provide proof of enrolment in a health/accident plan prior to start the internship with the Health Section.

Visa Requirements:

Individuals are personally responsible for obtaining any required visa, covering the entire period of their internship. If necessary, UNICEF will support the process by providing relevant documents such as proof of internship.

For internships in the US, the candidate needs to be eligible for a G4 Visa, Curricular Practical Training (CPT), be a Green Card holder or US Citizen.
