How can you make a difference?

The Performance Management & Career Development Center of Expertise (PMCD CoE) evolved from the HR Reform launched in 2016 to spearhead UNICEF’s agile performance management strategy and culture. The PMCD CoE work is spread across four pillars namely: (1) Performance Management (2) Career Development, (3) ACHIEVE System Development & Support, (4) PMCD Projects

The PMCD Section has an ongoing requirement to design and deliver targeted learning interventions, train the trainer workshops, in addition to, coaching in career management and performance enhancement, for the benefit of UNICEF managers and staff. With the recent implementation of the VOICE & REACH programmes, the revised Competency Framework and the pending design of the Global Recognition and Reward programme, the Section has a requirement for an Intern (for a period of maximum of 6 months full-time) to contribute and coordinate the varying requests for interventions, monitor the progress of the programmes and provide analysis on HR matters and assist with various communication notes, including presentations and HumanInterest stories to staff and HR professionals.

The main contributions will cover the following areas:

Coordination and monitoring

  • Provide support in monitoring and tracking of ongoing REACH programme activities in several UNICEF regions, in line with REACH Project plan and milestones
  • Update REACH monitoring project plan and provide weekly support to the team
  • Liaise, when required, with REACH participants and main stakeholders to take further project activities or support REACH participants
  • Provide support in the coordination of any other PMCD programmes, when needed

Research and Analytics

  • Conduct reseach and analysis of relevant best practices, trends and market standards.
  • This may include Rewards and Recognition programme, and other activities to support any future PMCD interventions
  • Provide analytical reports on the above, including PPT presentations as required.

Communication and Content Creation

  • Collaborate to design and develop HR materials and human interest stories to share staff experiences as part of DHR communication products
  • Coordinate and liaise within team and with Communication team in DHR to collate and publish human interest stories globally in UNICEF and OneHR newsletter
  • Collaborate to review and update PMCD materials housed on UNICEF Sharepoint

Other Duties

  • Additional Human Resources project and activities developed within PMCD may be assigned based on Intern’s areas of interest and expertise
  • Other duties as assigned in order to provide support to the PMCD team

Minimum Requirements: To qualify as an Intern, the applicant must: • Be currently enrolled or recently graduated from an undergraduate or master’s programme in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Law, International Relations or related field. • Demonstrate excellent written and spoken English • Possess excellent knowledge of MS Office and relevant computer systems and applications. • Have strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesize concepts and communicate these concisely in both written and oral formats. • Possess the ability to work effectively on multiple assignments simultaneously and adapt to the changing requirements while paying attention to detail. • Have good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
