Duties and Responsibilities The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. Its mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental policy consensus by keeping the global environment under review and bringing emerging issues to the attention of governments and the international community for action. UNEP's Law Division works with international and national partners, providing technical assistance and capacity development for the implementation of environmental policy, and strengthening the environmental management capacity of developing countries and countries with economies in transition.

In reference to UNEP Clearinghouse mandate under Article 10 of Montreal Protocol and UNEP Business Plan and 2023 Compliance Assistance Programme's budget, UN Environment OzonAction Branch is providing information services and legal/policy and technical advice for National Ozone Officers (NOUs) and other stakeholders.

On 15 October 2016, the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol was adopted. The Amendment adds powerful greenhouse gases hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) to the list of substances controlled under the Protocol to be phased down. The decision adopting the Amendment and the decision related to the amendment phasing down hydrofluorocarbons are the following: Decision XXVIII/1 and XXVIII/2.

OzonAction information clearinghouse produced a variety of informative documents that require translation from English to Spanish and Spanish into English.

Therefore, a consultant is required to translate OzonAction informative and outreach materials from English to Spanish and vice versa and to provide a virtual training session in English about techniques for creating documents for translation in Word.

The consultant will provide translation services to OzonAction. Specifically, the consultant will be responsible for the following actions:

- Translate OzonAction informative documents considering the UNEP Publishing Policy and UNEP Referencing and Style Guide. - Review the accuracy of terms and the structure of the documents. - Do extensive research to locate applicable terminology and develop a glossary of terms used so that they can be used in future work. - Proofreading and correction of translated documents to ensure that the documents are error-free. - Provide translated documents in digital format. - Prepare and deliver a virtual training in English. - Prepare a report of the virtual training to show objective, scope, gender distribution, results, and recommendations.

Qualifications/special skills An advanced degree in translation is required. A degree in languages combined with 04 years verifiable experience in translation may be accepted in lieu of an advance degree.

At least 7 years of professional experience in translating environmental texts from English to Spanish and vice versa is required.

Experience in translating within the UN system or intergovernmental institutions is highly desirable.

Languages High proficiency in Spanish and English level are required.
