You have:

  • Progressively responsible recruitment experience and administrative or clerical work experience required
  • Good knowledge of HR principles, rules, regulations and procedures within the UN
  • Computer literacy and the ability to effectively use standard office software tools as well as good knowledge and skill in using HR systems
  • Ability to extract and format data and to solve operational problems

  • Ability to work effectively with people of different national and cultural backgrounds

Contract

This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

The focus of the UNV assignments at this level is on the provision of both standardized and specialized activities pertaining to recruitment. Specialized activities pertain to the application of HR regulations, rules and procedures in the context of clear guidelines and procedures where the choice of action is limited and where issues requiring clarification and decision are directed to the relevant HR Specialist.

Under the direct supervision of Hub Recruitment Manager, the UN Volunteer will:: • Liaise with the Senior Recruiter and hiring managers for assigned posts to plan for and initiate recruitment process. • Implement recruitment steps (reviewing internal priority candidates if any, advertising the post, longlisting, supporting hiring managers in assessing candidates, writing selection reports, guiding hiring managers to check reference, etc.). • Drive a strong talent assessment process and rigor. • Screen, evaluate and qualify candidates, including conducting in-depth candidate interviews to develop a deep understanding of candidate qualifications and competencies. • Create a diversity sourcing strategy for the designated business groups; this includes building strong external partnerships with diverse associations. • Remain up to date on the requirements of the various positions. • Processing approvals (obtaining technical clearance, submitting documents in TMS, following up with approving authorities as necessary). • Upon approval of the recruitment, routing the case to GSSC to further processing; following up with GSSC to process offer. • Create a dashboard to monitor progress of approved recruitment cases. • Provide inputs to the Senior Recruiter to update the master recruitment plan and progress. • Carry out periodic surveys for clients to make sure their needs are being met and receive feedback on the recruitment hub workflow, performance, suggestions etc. • Develop, maintain, and update the Recruitment Monitoring tool of the hub. • Collect and Analyse data within the hub of all recruitment cases and prepare reports for the Senior Recruiter.

Amman, the capital, is a peaceful city with over four million residents. People are friendly to visitors. Services in terms of banking, transportation, health and communications are easily available. Though Arabic is the official language, English is widely spoken among the majority of the population, especially in Amman. Road network is good both in terms of spread and quality of the roads. Public transportation in Amman is limited. Taxis are relatively cheap and easily available. There are a number of shopping malls, restaurants, gyms, and cinemas. A large variety of accommodation options can be found; however, it is worth noting that prices in Amman have generally increased in the past few years. There are no specific security threats. Amman is a very easy city in which to live; large, many amenities, very modern and serviced by an international airport with direct flights to most capital cities. According to the assessment of the UN Department of Safety & Security (UNDSS) Jordan is a family duty station (category A hardship).

As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. National UN Volunteers are part of the insurance plan.
