Meticulously reviewed and enhanced translated documents including the 2024 ISA Secretary-General’s Annual Report to be published by mid-June 2024.

Duties and Responsibilities

Conducting a comprehensive review of the translated documents to identify and rectify grammatical errors, mistranslations and inconsistencies. Ensuring the accuracy and fidelity of the French translations with respect to the source text. Verifying the coherence and flow of the translated content to maintain readability and comprehension. Cross-referencing terminology and terminology consistency throughout the documents. Providing suggestions for improvements to enhance the overall quality and clarity of the translated materials. Collaborating closely with the original translator to address any queries or concerns regarding the translated content.

Qualifications/special skills

At least a High School diploma or equivalent. A minimum of five (5) years of experience in translation, précis-writing, editing, self-revision, verbatim-reporting, copy preparing, proofreading or production editing. Demonstrated experience in revising translated documents, particularly in the context of annual reports or official publications. Strong attention to detail and excellent command of grammar, syntax and vocabulary of the UN French language. Familiarity with the subject matter and terminology relevant to the documents being revised. Ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines in a collaborative environment Proficiency in French, with native-level fluency.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this consultancy, fluency in both French and English is required.
