Custodians of Peace has been conceptualized by UNITAR upon request of the Commissioner for Peace and Security of the African Union. The creation and activation of FemWise-Africa in 2017 constitutes an ambitious attempt on the part of the African Union to institutionalize African women’s good mediation and conflict prevention practices from the grassroots level upwards, and to create entry points for female community leaders and peacemakers to more effectively access and take part in peace processes. Against this backdrop, the overall project will systematically develop the capacities of African women from a variety of backgrounds to effectively take part in mediation and conflict prevention efforts across the African continent.

We are looking for 2 volunteers who will be available to proofread and review of the Custodians of Peace report. Weekly tasks are estimated to 40 pages for proofreading and editing. Volunteers will be expected to complete tasks with the utmost professionalism and deadlines for all tasks will be mutually agreed upon.

Previous experience in copy editing, proofreading and typographical layout or related area is required; Knowledge of the African Union (AU) and United Nations (UN) terminology and terminology related to mediation, negotiation, early warning and multitrack diplomacy is preferred. Furthermore, experience editing within the United Nations or a comparable organization and Report-writing experience is desirable.
