Overview

Design portrait illustrations for annual report covers

You have:

  • Bachelor degree or similar graphic training (digital design, illustration, art).
  • Strong digital illustration skills, specifically in portrait illustration.
  • Experienced user of Adobe Creative Cloud: Photoshop, Illustrator or similar.
  • Robust online portfolio with recent similar work (personal website, Instagram, etc.).

The annual report is OVRA's flagship publication that communicates the work of the Victims' Rights Advocate to a broad audience, including Member State donors, non-governmental organizations and the general public. We are looking for international digital illustrators or artists specialized in portraits that have a fresh, innovative, and reflexive drive. The result of the collaboration aims to be an inspiration for the international community that defends the rights of victims of sexual exploitation and abuse.

The illustrator / artist will design the cover of the next two annual reports of the United Nations Office of the Victims' Rights Advocate (OVRA). The cover should depict portrait illustrations of victim(s) based on a variety of images to be provided by OVRA.

Specifically:

  • Design two portraits for the cover of OVRA's next two annual reports (portrait size A4, 300 dpi).
  • General concept and samples of preferred styles will be provided by OVRA.
  • Portraits will be based on film shots also provided by OVRA. They include men and women of all ages.
  • Style and tone: realistic or expressionist. Simple, uncluttered and not too abstract. The end result should convey dignity, seriousness, and gravity. Iconic, and eye-catching.
  • The illustrator/artist will work with our UNV online graphic designer and our staff.

The approximate duration of this assignment is 10 weeks (1-5 hours per work) to be discussed with the selected candidate.
