Job Overview/Summary:

The Syria crisis is often described as the worst humanitarian catastrophe since the end of the Cold War. Inside Syria, 7.6 people are internally displaced and 12.2 million are in need of humanitarian assistance. There are more than 4 million Syrian refugees living in neighboring countries. This is no short- term humanitarian episode. The devastating human consequences to huge numbers of people will endure for decades. The destruction of relationships, communities, livelihoods, homes and infrastructure will take years to repair. The IRC is offering a robust humanitarian response to the Syria crisis. The Jordan country program, with a current budget of almost $27 million, operates in Jordan. This position will be dedicated to Jordan health program leading the implementation of health program for refugees inside Jordan.

The CP provides regular, complete, and updated information on medicines, disposables, and medical equipment status to ensure that the Medical staff is at all times able to plan and provide adequate medicines and medical supplies to all IRC supported health facilities and services.

More specifically, the CP is tasked with the timely preparation and/or validation of medicines, disposable and equipment requests from both IRC partners' projects and IRC direct implementation projects.

In coordination with the HOM, CP is will be responsible to designing and conducting capacity building and training sessions for IRC staff and partners' staff from the consortium and private sector health facilities in stock and pharmacy management and any other area of competence to be developed concerning pharmacy services. The Country Pharmacist is also in charge of coordinating any drug/supply/equipment donations.

Major Responsibilities: ----------------------------

Pharmaceuticals and Supplies Management

- Coordinate the pharmaceuticals quantification process and ensure that all procured items are in the EDL of the IRC or Health sector Local EDL. In addition, S/he will ensure that drug consumption data is collected at health facilities, aggregated, analyzed, and used to forecast the program's and consortium needs and safe health delivery. - Supervises the availability of medical item to avoid stock-outs or overstocking ; Collaborates with the (HC, SHPM, and HOM) and various Senior Health officers to define stock security levels in IRCs directly implemented facilities and consortium's partners. - Close collaboration with Warehouse officers, develops stock levels; gathers stock indicators, analyzes them, and discusses with health management team to avoid stock-outs and the financial losses generated by expired items. - Provides input for orders: draws up the first draft of orders to the HOM, reviews the parameters involved in replenishing stock, finalizes orders based on consumption and future needs may arise from the developments in the field - Participates in defining strategies for supply, management, distribution, and use of medical products in line with IRC's recommendations and policies; under the supervision of Health operations manager and in collaboration with Health and Supply Chain Managers, support development/use of new pharmaceutical stock management systems and software. - Participate in the Quarterly Quality check report for the Pharmacy and Dispensing practices at the field level, by cooperating with the QCS and the Health Coordinator. - Participates in implementing the pharmaceutical supply chain standard operating procedures. - Support application of Good Distribution Practices (GDPs) for pharmaceutical products at the storage level and Good Dispensing Practices in end-user units for the IRC & partners pharmacies: - To represent the health program in front of the regional health technical unit regarding the pharmaceuticals & supplies, including attending meetings, workshops, and trainings, in addition to preparing and submitting the requested reports. - Managing the approved EDL for Jordan program, to add/remove the medical items on the EDL according to the type of services we are provide to our beneficiaries and the real need on the ground. - Leading the donation process between IRC and external parties

Health Department development and networking: ---------------------------------------------

- Supports the communication department in the monthly Jordan Staff newsletter, Videos newsletter, or where needed (providing talks, articles, videos and/or looking for appropriate speakers that can do so).

Technical Report and Capacity building: ---------------------------------------

- Provide support supervision to the health team and partners, health facilities' pharmacy technicians and dispensers at field offices and services delivery points to ensure proper management and reporting of medical drugs and supplies, and ensure a quality-assurance system is incorporated into the health facilities & medical stores; - Provide technical mentorship to IRC staff, and Partners in all aspects of drug supply management - continuously assess the staff needs, identify gaps, and adapt plans/activities to respond to these gaps; - Provide continuous Pharma training for Supply Chain and Health Unit staff on the IRC Pharma SOP;

External: Relevant partners include Qatar Charity, Qatar Red Crescent, Arab Medical Relief Society, and IMC.

Qualifications

Job Requirements: ----------------------

- Certified Pharmacy university degree with experience with NGOs work. (3+ years) - Ability to analyze data and write situation reports. - Good experience with stock tracking, reporting and management - Has a shown experience in medical warehouse management - Has a proven experience as a pharmacist. - Good knowledge of archiving medical records. - Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines and objectives. - Experience in health assessments, project proposals and grant management. - Objective oriented. - Flexible work demeanor. - Good computer skills: facility with MS Word, Excel, and email/internet software. - Strong interpersonal skills. - Team management and decision making skills

Working Environment: The position is based in Zaatari camp, with frequent travel to the Azraq camp and our partners in Mafraq and Ramtha governorates.
