Result of Service

• Effectively delivers a wide range of communications tasks enhancing the profile and outreach of project impacts for the UNEP CCC under moderate supervision. • Accurately and in a timely manner, produces a range of impact stories digital and print and other outputs. • Appropriately applies relevant policies, guidelines, procedures and processes. • Establishes effective working relationships within UNEP CCC and internal and external contacts at all levels.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Consultant will be responsible for supporting the Comms Team with a wide range of communications and outreach activities as outlined below: • Identify and prepare impact stories for different outreach platforms, with the project officers and • Suggest new and innovative formats for digital storytelling • Provide Support to in-country, regional and global climate change events • Engage with the communications colleagues across UNEP’s Climate Change Division In particular, under the guidance and direct supervision of the Chief Advisor, the Communications Consultant will perform the following functions: • Prepare content for UNEP-CCC’s web and SoMe platforms; research and write articles; help develop content in impact stories • Prepare engaging social media content (text and visual). • Provision of photography and videography services • Provide event support to major climate events • Act as backup on website - content management • Support the development and implementation of monitoring, tracking and reporting methods that help to measure engagement within UNEP-CCC

Qualifications/special skills

Master’s degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field. • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience within the field of communications or journalism. • Experience in content development and storytelling for various communications channels, • Experience with CMS systems and video making • Knowledge of the UN system rules and regulations is an asset. • Experience working with international organizations and/or government counterparts is an asset. • Excellent and documented writing skills e.g. articles for print or digital required • Video content production for digital platforms and experience with video editing tools (e.g. Premiere Pro, After Effects) is an advantage. • Experience with website management (CMS/WordPress and/or Drupal). • High proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Power Point, etc.). • Great teamwork, analytical skills, planning, attention to detail and problem-solving skills. • Fluency in English is required, knowledge of other UN language an asset. • Ability to manage information objectively and accurately. • Ability to work well under pressure, with flexibility and adaptability amidst evolving circumstances. • Ability to identify and execute tasks independently with thoroughness and care. • Ability to thrive with multicultural teams.
