Overview

Prepare architectural designs and support project management for the REPAC Project in Jordan.

You have:

• A bachelor's degree in architecture.
• At least four years of professional experience in architecture and design.
• Sound knowledge of local practice, construction regulations and materials in the Middle East is required.
• Experience with architectural design software including AutoCAD and other software such as Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, and 3D software.
• Very good command of written and spoken English and Arabic.

Org. Setting and Reporting - Title of Supervisor: Project Manager-REPAC - Title of Supervisee/s: None - Working conditions: Office environment with access to telephone, PC and other automation equipment, internet, and intranet. Some local travel may be required.

Responsibilities - Prepares shelter design options based on beneficiary needs and allocated funds. - Supports in the preparation of Camp Improvement Plans; prepares conceptual, preliminary and detailed designs, technical support, stakeholder consultation, preparation of terms of reference (TOR), specifications of materials; tender documents; concept notes and action plans; - Prepares the architectural design of existing buildings/shelters that need architectural alterations and develops preliminary design and planning schemes based on available resources: land and funds; - Prepares the designs digitally and oversees the draft person during the computer aided preparation of architectural drawings for the construction projects in Jordan, the production of final drawings as part of tender documents; - Prepares three-dimensional drawings and renders for projects assigned to him/her; - Provides technical inputs regarding architectural and planning aspects of buildings and public spaces - Documents minutes of meetings and assists in the preparation of project programmes and coordinates with different stakeholders - Intensive work with the communities to ensure their full participation in the design - Coordinates with required authorities including Department of Palestinian Affairs (DPA) and Camp Area Office (CAO) regarding undertaken projects - Develops, prepares and customizes relevant reports such as monthly, semi-annual, annual and final reports and information as appropriate; facilitate and coordinate input for the elaboration of reports; identifies reporting inconsistencies and makes appropriate improvements - Conduct regular site visits to the individual projects and project sites - Keeps abreast of the latest development of new materials and methods in his/her own field and their impact on design and construction; - Performs such other duties as may be required.

Work Experience At least four years’ experience of professional experience in the application of knowledge listed above is required

Experience with architectural design software and computer aided design including AutoCAD and other software such as Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, 3D Design (REVIT, Sketch), 3D Rendering (Vray, 3D Max), 3D visualization (Lumion, Blender, Enscape) is required

Languages - Very good command of written and spoken English and Arabic.

Special Notice Contract Status: Limited Duration Contract (LDC) for 6 months (Extendable) subject to availability of funds, satisfactory performance of the incumbent and the continuing need for the post. Justification for use:

General supervision and guidance will be given by REPAC Project Manager. However, as camp development is a multi-disciplinary exercise the incumbent is expected to be capable of working in a team to produce development options and proposals relating to camp development. On the other hand the incumbent is expected to be capable of establishing his/her own work programme and of working independently on technical related matters.

Required Skills; - Experience in construction of low-cost housing in the Near East. - Knowledge of 2D and 3D architectural software including AutoCAD and 3D modelling, rendering and visualization software; any from the above listed software - Proficient in the use of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, Access, Power Point). - Very good analytical and writing skills.
