Job Description

Scope of Service: The Job Training AmeriCorps will provide training and educational services to improve client capacity to obtain and retain employment and maintain economic self-sufficiency. This position will report to the Employment Supervisor.

Responsibilities:

- Deliver and update as appropriate existing job training curriculum - Implement and conduct vocational training courses that include ESL, cultural and workplace orientation, mock interviews, creation of resumes, and job skills development sessions. - Maintain accurate attendance records and document in client files as required - Administer client pre- and post-assessments as required and document results in case files - Ensure that information required for program eligibility and reporting purposes is collected and that accurate records are maintained, including case files and client data entry. Ensure necessary steps are taken to obtain relevant data in a timely fashion; follow-up with all clients regularly and record all contacts with case notes - Participate in all program meetings, development activities, and other meetings as needed. - Assist in the onboarding of new volunteers and interns as relevant

Qualifications

Qualifications

- Experience in adult education, teaching or tutoring English as a second language, or workforce development and understanding of financial basics a plus - Strong communication skills, with fluency in written and spoken English. Bilingual ability in one of the predominant languages of the local client base is desired - Demonstrated experience working in a multicultural environment - Must have a valid driver’s license and consistent access to reliable transportation - Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). - Must be a US citizen or legal permanent resident and authorized to work in the U.S. - Must be at least 18 years old - Must commit to 1200 hours of service

The living allowance for this position is $16,502. Upon completion of a minimum of 1,200 service hours, AmeriCorps member will be eligible for an education award of $4,546.50.

Proposed activities will be supported, in part, with federal funds from the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) AmeriCorps State program sub-granted through the Maryland Governor’s Office of Service and Volunteerism. Activities are contingent upon funding availability and award from CNCS.

Working Environment:

A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and ‘field’ time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities. Some evening and weekend hours will be required.
