Job description

The One Health Data Alliance Africa (OHDAA) is a regional project commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and works on the intersection of data, digitalisation and health in the sense of the One Health approach. The project supports the African Union, Regional Economic Communities and African countries to exchange and use data from different sectors and sources for better One Health management and governance. Interoperable information systems, data governance and management, and the integration, analysis and visualisation of data for specific use cases play a key role in the OHDAA project. OHDAA brings together experts from different sectors and disciplines and strengthens capacities and capabilities in One Digital Health to improve health and socio-economic wellbeing in Africa. The OHDAA project is part of the group Digital Transformation in Africa at GIZ.

Your tasks

  • Advise the project and partners on all aspects related to interoperable information systems, as well as on integration, exchange and use of data and support the project management in developing the topic of One Digital Health
  • Independently lead the development of strategies, concepts, methods, and instruments to support project implementation and knowledge management at country, regional and continental level
  • Communication and collaboration with relevant ministries, organisations, institutes, private sector and development cooperation projects working in the field of data, digitalisation and One Health
  • Preparation, management and steering of tender awards e.g. awards above and below EU threshold, short- and long-term experts
  • Representation of the project and active participation within the Team Europe Initative Digital Health and the business development project on Digital Health
  • Participation in workshops and relevant technical exchange events

Your profile

  • Master’s degree in ICT, informatics, data science, data engineering, epidemiology or other relevant disciplines as well as several years of relevant professional experience in international development cooperation
  • Working experience in the area of digital transformation, ideally in the field of interoperable information systems, data analytics or digital health
  • Regional or country-specific work experience in Africa is considered an advantage
  • Ability to work in a team and strong networking skills combined with the capacity to think conceptually and analytically
  • Good communication skills and ability to engage diverse stakeholders
  • Business fluent English, basic knowledge of French or German is an advantage

Notes

This job is suited to a full or a part-time position.

There is the possibility of a contract extension.

The willingness for frequent business trips is required.
