Overview

Assist in developing a new Arabic website using Drupal, focusing on UX and CMS.

You have:

  • Holder of a first university degree in IT, web development and design, or other relevant field.
  • Previous Drupal website development experience is required.
  • Share at least two previously developed websites on Drupal with references.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic is required, both orally and in writing.

Duties and Responsibilities

The web developer will work closely with the Knowledge Management and Documentation Unit at the Centre which will provide support on branding and graphic design, content migration as well as the main functionalities and wireframe of the website. The internship is open for post graduate students as well as recently graduated professionals with a web development background who would welcome the opportunity to broaden their understanding of the United Nations system specifically pertaining to human rights. The duration of the internship is five months on a full time or part-time basis and is office or home based. The intern will be reporting to the Knowledge Management Officer who will be in close follow up and regular review of the work processes and provides regular advice and guidance Responsibilities The intern will be responsible for the following duties: 1) Assess the current website (built on Sharepoint) 2) Develop a new website built on Drupal and in Arabic with the following considerations: - Website to have intuitive navigation through optimal user interface design and functionality. - Website to adopt OHCHR branding guidelines and be inspired by the global OHCHR website in terms of look and feel. - Website language is Arabic only. - A site map is created for optimal Search Engine Optimization (SEO) - The Content Management System (CMS) for the website should be relatively easy for other non IT team members to regularly update content. - Website carries over to various browsers and is mobile responsive. - Website adheres to the Information Security Controls and Requirements as set by the UN systems for websites. 2) Coordinate with other OHCHR units for hosting of the website, in collaboration with the Knowledge Management Unit coordinate with other OHCHR units for hosting of the website. 3) Undertake necessary testing of all website pages and functionalities before going live. 4) Provide training to the Knowledge Management Unit on how to upload and modify and content.

Qualifications/special skills

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Program, applicants must be a holder of a first university degree in IT, web development and design or other relevant field. Previous Drupal website development experience is required. Candidates will be required to share at least two previously developed websites on Drupal with references.

Languages

Fluency in English and Arabic is required, both orally and in writing.
