Result of Service The work of the consultant will directly contribute to outreach activities in Haiti, specifically in Creole and French and support the UN’s effective strategic communications with all Haitians.

Work Location Port au Prince

Expected duration 30 days over a period of 8 months beginning 1 August 2022.

Duties and Responsibilities The United Nations System has begun the process of developing its new United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) for Haiti as the current Integrated Strategic Framework comes to an end on 31 December 2022.

The UNSDCF will be the United Nations reference document for planning and carrying out actions to support the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Haiti. Covering the period 2023-2027, it will govern the entire programming cycle organizing the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the collective action conducted by the United Nations System.

As part of their activities, UN agencies, in collaboration with the Government and their international and local partners, implement activities aimed at improving the living conditions and well-being of the people living in Haiti.

As Haiti experiences multiple over-lapping crises, an experienced consultant is sought to support the effective delivery of communications activities by the Resident Coordinator's Office. The consultant will work closely with the communications and advocacy officer in the UN Haiti Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO). Under the guidance of the communications and advocacy officer, s/he will work on a series of time-bound projects with specific outcomes that will support UN Haiti’s goal of communicating with the Haitian public, as across the UN system in Haiti as One UN.

The consultant will primarily focus on developing video for broadcast and video for social media content to support UN Haiti’s advocacy and communications strategy focused on humanitarian action, the Sustainable Development Goals and justice issues.

Particular emphasis will be placed on expanding outreach, to Haitians through the development of video/social media content in Creole.

Duties and Responsibilities for Consultancy:

  • Filming, writing and editing of 2-4 minute long, finished reports and UNifeed-style reports for video broadcast and one-minute social media videos according to UN guidelines and formats. Interviewing video participants. The consultant is required to manage the informed consent of participants.
  • Production of audio interviews from video content
  • Production of content in French, English and Creole
  • Travel on mission, often at short notice
  • Taking/editing/adding metadata for stills photographs
  • Liaison with video colleagues at regional and HQ offices
  • Consultant must provide his/her own equipment

    Qualifications/special skills Skills: Video and photo editing Academic Qualifications: Academic qualifications: Bachelor's degree in communications or related field is required. Experience: Experience: A minimum of five years of professional experience in video production is required. Language: Language: English is an official working language of the United Nations. For this assignment fluency in English, French and Haitian Creole is required.
