• The development of capacity through coaching, mentoring and formal on the job training when working with or supervising national staff, • Ensure that gender diversity is applied on a cross-cutting basis during daily work activities, • The staff member and his staff are expected to provide guidance in daily Dispatch operations to drivers, Dispatchers and attend to a diverse cross section of clients (who include UNPOL / national & international staff civilians / military components / national & international contractors / and all other UN stakeholders. • Ensure the vehicles are properly used to meet the organizational goals. • Monitor, implement and generate driver working schedules and monitor performance. • Ensure a flawless and smooth uninterrupted Dispatch service for the organization. • Generate fleet management records related to vehicle utilization, usage, fuel usage and as requested by management. • Staff member is expected to communicate effectively across the organization and ensure there is

Under the direct Supervision of the CTO and under the delegated authority of the Dispatch Supervisor the Transport Assistant (UN Volunteer) shall perform the following tasks: • Effectively participate in the management of Dispatch operations that will include drivers, vehicles, and Dispatch activities, • Use various platforms (electronic, telephone, radio) to communicate with end users and disseminate information to clients on Dispatch operations, • Ensure the facilitation of staff movements for official duties and that mission staff are aware of the service provision, • Manages the Dispatch pool vehicles efficiently and ensure they are in good running condition. • Participate in the daily management of the daily shuttle services for staff on a continuous basis. • Generate fleet management and vehicle monitoring reports to analyse usage, safety, and fuel consumption data via using electronic monitoring fleet management systems or Trip tickets, • Take part in the briefing of newly recruited staff, briefing for driver testing (national staff & international civilian staff, UN police components, UN military components and contractors). • Ensure Transport regulations, policies and rules are followed in fleet management on a continuous basis, • Maintain driver training records and produce these whenever required both electronically and by hard copies, • Performs a variety of additional mission-wide additional tasks as and when required by the CTO, • The Dispatch Officer shall be committed to effective communication, coordination, and cooperation with UN stakeholders.

Motor Transport or Material Management / Logistics Management is required. Transport/ Logistics Experience in United Nations Peace Operations or Similar Organization will be an added advantage. Good math and computer skills including Microsoft Office and internet applications. Knowledge of French is desirable

Bamako is a non-family duty station with a difficult security and working environment. Mali is a non-family duty station. Living conditions are acceptable in Bamako, but security instructions need to be strictly complied with. Adequate housing is available for rent at US$ 500-1500 per month. The national currency is the Franc CFA (January 2019 exchange rate was 1 US$ = 643FCFA). Visa credit cards are accepted in some hotels and larger shops. Mali is a country prone to malaria, so mosquito nets are highly recommended. Basic medicines are available from pharmacies, but provision needs to be made for specialized medication. Security recommendations from the UN Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) must be followed by all UN Staff in the course of their assignments in Mali. For the sake of rewarding experience, UN volunteers in MINUSMA carry out their duties with flexibility, commitment, and a willingness to live and work in challenging conditions including heat and limited water and electricity supply.
