Result of Service The key result expected is that, through the good quality of translated material, an impact on appropriate understanding and presentation of materials produced by and for the UN-RCO is achieved.

Key outputs include: - Translation of Sustainable Development Bulletin – 8 pages, monthly - Translation of UN-RCO papers – 20 pages, monthly - Translation of the Joint Steering Committee (JSC) materials – 50 pages, every 6 months - Translation of UN conference materials– 30 pages - Simultaneous interpretation at workshops, combined 20 hours / year - Simultaneous interpretation at SDG training (November 2022), combined 8 hours

Work Location Home based/Skopje

Expected duration - The duration of the initial agreement will be for one year with a possibility for extension. - The Contractor will be expected to perform the expected tasks mainly from her / his home base. - The Contractor will submit translated documents in electronic format to UN-RCO - The financial compensation for the translation services will be according to the standard UNCT North Macedonia as agreed by the Operations Management Team (as at present in effect and may be amended in the future) - Only candidates with complete profiles in Inspira will be contacted. - The contract does not form a financial obligation or commitment from UN-RCO at the time it is signed, and such an agreement is non-exclusive (i.e., it does not prohibit UN-RCO from entering into another such framework agreement with another individual or entity).

Duties and Responsibilities Translation and Interpretation Services by Individuals For English / Macedonian /Albanian

UN Resident Coordinator’s Office (UN-RCO) has regular needs for translation and interpretation services provided by skilled and certified professionals in three languages: English, Macedonian and Albanian. The services required are translation and interpretation from any of the three languages into any of the three languages. The translation and interpretation services are for the regular needs of the UN RCO, UNCT coordination processes and other UN entities that UN-RCO is supporting in the country. For this purpose, UN-RCO requires access to stand-by contractual capacity that will facilitate easy access to the highly qualified translators.

The Contractor will be responsible for the following: - Translation and proofreading of UN-RCO and UNCT internal and external documents: official documents, books, publications, brochures, Newsletters, Media Advisories and Press Releases, reports, newspaper articles and other relevant materials. - The translated text has to be delivered in MS Word, PowerPoint or Excel files, as required, and with Macedonian/Albanian language font support. - Provision of high-quality translations – adequate terminology, precise translation, understandable language, correct wording and comprehensive style, also adequate formatting and editing. The translator is expected to perform terminology research (on UN websites etc.) to ensure the accuracy and appropriateness of all translations. The translator is also responsible for ensuring quality and accuracy of the entire document before submitting it back to UN-RCO. - Proof-reading of the materials, which will ensure internal consistency, clarity, and preciseness in used terminology and in the style of writing; - Provision of interpreting services (consecutive and/or simultaneous) from English to Macedonian and vice versa, or from English to Albanian and vice versa, or from Macedonian to Albanian and vice versa, during public events, meetings and other occasions. Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications: A BA Degree in English, Macedonian, Albanian language and literature and/or Court Interpreter Certificate for English, Macedonian, Albanian language.

Experience: At least five years of direct experience in translating / interpreting /copy-editing / proof reading texts in at least one of the UN North Macedonia strategic areas of work (inclusive prosperity, quality services for all, healthy environment, good governance); Experience in translating/interpreting with International Organizations, Government Institutions, NGOs; At least five positive references; Excellent knowledge and practice in the usage of computers and office software packages, experience in handling of web-based management systems; Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
