- Fluency in English and Arabic is required, with specific fluency in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding.
- Knowledge of French is a plus but not required.

The incumbent will be responsible for a fully translated, edited and formatted UN in Lebanon: 2024 Results Report in Arabic.

Duties and Responsibilities
Background: The UN Annual report reflects the results of all of the development work of the UN in Lebanon for the year 2024. The translator would be translating the report of around 5,000-6,000 words from English to Arabic. Duties and Responsibilities: The individual contractor is expected to fully translate, edit and format the UN in Lebanon: 2024 Results Report from English to Arabic for design and publishing. The report will be around 5,000-6,000 words that will need to be translated and includes text in narrative form, infographics, captions of pictures, lists, titles, and graphs.
Qualifications/special skills
A Bachelor’s degree in translation, Arabic, Business, International Studies, or related area is required. All candidates must submit a copy of the required educational degree. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. A minimum of 7 years of professional work experience in translation is required.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat; and Arabic is a working language of ESCWA. For this position, fluency in English and Arabic is required. Note: “Fluency” equals a rating of ‘fluent’ in all four areas (speak, read, write, and understand) and “Knowledge of” equals a rating of ‘confident’ in two of the four areas.

Recruitment for this position is on a local basis. The incumbent is required to have the legal right to live and work in the specified working location.
