The UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights has the mandate to promote the dissemination and implementation of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human rights. Given the risks faced by human rights defenders around the globe for the legitimate human rights work they conduct in the context of business activities and business-related human rights impact, the UN Working Group has issued a guidance to help States and business to uphold their obligation/responsibility to respect and protect human rights defenders with regard to business activities. Currently, this guidance exists only in English. The French version will help to foster wider dissemination and use in other key parts of the world and by critical stakeholders, particularly in the Africa region.
