You have:

  • Fluency in Arabic and English (written).
  • Experience in professional translation, preferably in international development or SDG topics.
  • Familiarity with UN/SDG terminology is highly desirable.
  • Fluency in English; Arabic is a strong asset.
  • Experience designing bilingual documents, especially RTL and LTR formatting.
  • Proficiency in Adobe InDesign or similar publication software.
  • Portfolio showcasing professional design of reports or documents.

UNDP Sudan is finalizing Sudan’s 2025 Voluntary National Review (VNR), a key report presenting national progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The VNR will be presented at the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF), making quality presentation and accessibility essential. Volunteers will support this effort by translating the document and designing a bilingual publication that reflects UNDP standards and communicates Sudan’s development story clearly to national and global audiences.

UNDP Sudan is looking for three volunteers; two to translate it to Arabic and one to design it before presenting it in the theHigh-Level Political Forum (HLPF), The volunteers will therefore

  1. English–Arabic Translation of Sudan’s 2025 VNR (1 volunteer)
  • The online volunteer will support the translation of the Sudan 2025 Voluntary National Review (approximately 80 pages) from English into Arabic. The task includes:
  • Translating assigned sections of the VNR, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to UN/SDG terminology.
  • Delivering the translated text in editable Word format, aligned with UNDP’s editorial style.
  1. Review and edit the translated VNR (1 volunteer)

The online volunteer will support the proofreading of Arabic content in the VNR and make sure the words used fits with the UNDP language . The task includes:

  • Review the translated text and edit the document.
  • Correct the language as per UNDP terminologies.
  • Coordinating with UNDP Sudan’s communications focal point to incorporate feedback and finalize the Arabic version.
  1. Bilingual Report Design and Layout (1 volunteer)

The online volunteer will design the layout of the final Sudan 2025 VNR in both English and Arabic. The task includes:

  • Creating a visually appealing and professional publication using Adobe InDesign or similar tools.
  • Formatting both the Arabic (RTL) and English (LTR) versions, incorporating graphics and charts provided by UNDP.

  • Delivering a print-ready PDF of the bilingual VNR, along with source design files and selected visuals adapted for social media. Deliverables:

Final deliverble: translated and visual attracting Sudan’s 2025 Voluntary National Review (VNR) in Word format.

For Translators:

Fluency in Arabic and English (written).

Experience in professional translation, preferably in international development or SDG topics.

Familiarity with UN/SDG terminology is highly desirable.

For Designer:

Fluency in English; Arabic is a strong asset.

Experience designing bilingual documents, especially RTL and LTR formatting.
