As a development agency of the United Nations with principal responsibility for governance, UNDP has a particular interest in how political trends and changes affect governance and peacebuilding in Africa. UNDP works in a variety of country settings and its efforts to reimagine governance and peacebuilding would not have been complete without reflecting on the range of country-specific contexts. This report introduces the concept of adaptive responses to describe what UNDP is required to do in varying country contexts. The concept covers the range of creative adjustments made in response to changed national contexts, such as reprogramming or repositioning. As part of its adaptive response, the report recommends that UNDP consider reviewing its process for authorizing projects; ending support for some activities and narrowing its focus on major public policy challenges, however defined; and establishing a governance facility to provide UNDP a flexible financial tool for coping with and adapting to varying situations.

The "Reimaging Governance and Peacebuilding in Africa" Report features 56 pages (in PDF) with approximately 48,300 words. The objective of this task is translate the report from English to French.
