iDiaspora was initially conceived as a vehicle which diaspora communities could share their concerns, hopes & ideas during the consultation process for the Global Compact for Migration. During initial consultations w/diaspora communities & other partners, it became clear to the iDiaspora team that there was a wider appetite for something meaningful through the platform. iDiaspora is a community driven digital venue, facilitated by IOM, designed to empower diaspora engagement in the 21st century. iDiaspora’s vision is to be the go-to venue for diaspora engagement and knowledge, now & into the future. iDiaspora will provide interactive & easy access to global connections, content & commentary on diaspora engagement. Designed as an evolving space, the platform will actively seek to develop a portfolio of products to develop diaspora engagement. Volunteers will directly contribute to expanding the reach of the iDiaspora Platform and building its online community by generating content of interest w/c can then be shared through social media to general interest & drive traffic toward the platform while providing the volunteer an opportunity to generate visibility for their work.
