How can you make a difference?

  1. Review SSA requests received from KCO Nairobi sections and Regional Office and ensure requests are in accordance with UNICEF rules and regulations and that all requisite documentation is provided. Manage the SSA files to ensure all documentation is correctly filed and provide any support required by national consultants.

  1. Provide human resource administrative services through timely processing of contract renewals and accurately determine and implement staff entitlements/benefits for all staff for both KCO Nairobi and ESARO in accordance with UN/UNICEF rules and regulations.

  1. Carry out the recruitment process of national professional officers, general service, and temporary staff according to UN/UNICEF rules, regulations, procedures and policies. Review appropriateness of job descriptions, arrange internal and/or external advertisement(s) and, in consultation with supervisors, undertake the short-listing of candidates for interviews. Ensure recruitment files are complete.

  2. Keep abreast of latest rules, regulations and policy on the UN Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF) and assist both current and former staff in advising on entitlements and processing of compensations as appropriate.

  1. Maintain up-to-date records of Official Status Files for all staff by ensuring all requisite documents are filed both electronically and manually for easy retrieval of staff information.

  1. Receive and process overtime entitlements for all eligible staff and make entries in VISION on a monthly basis as input into the monthly payroll.

  1. Participate and act as a resource in the implementationand administration of the fair, equitable and systematic GS classification in compliance with the established standards and procedures and ensuring all job descriptions are current, duly classified and filed correctly

  1. Keep abreast of the latest HR rules, regulations and policies and assist staff in the correct interpretation and application of HR policies and procedures and provide counselling as required.

Education

Completion of Secondary School, University level courses in administration, finance, or any other related field of discipline relevant to the job is an asset.

Work Experience

7 years of relevant professional work experience with both national and international work experience in office management, administration, finance, accounting, ICT, human resources, supply or any other relevant function.

Work experience in emergency duty station.

Language Proficiency

Fluency in English and another UN language.
