Job Profile

The purpose of the Technical Specialist – Agriculture and Livelihood Development position of Building Resilience and Strengthening Community Disaster Preparedness in Sri Lanka project is to provide technical advice and guidance for the project team to implement the project in the designated project locations Kandy, Kilinochi, Kurunagala and Nuwareliya with the support of the National Technical Advisor for Economic & Agriculture Development (EAD).

Major Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance in the development and implementation of the project’s agriculture and livelihood development activities.
  • Support the relevant MEAL Specialists to develop quality monitoring tools and/or tracking and analyzing data to capture impact of the project.
  • Ensure quality and timely submission of reports according to the donor requirement. Engage with Government and Non-Governmental/private sector organizations to build relationships for seeking opportunities for market linkages and Join interventions of the project.
  • Ensure that the project staff are equipped with sufficient technical competencies to address the requirements of the agriculture and livelihood development activities.
  • Share best practices and learnings of the project to facilitate the process of continuous learning and documentation of best practices in the project and share with donor and stakeholders for scaling up.

Required qualifications, experience & competencies

  • At least four (4) years of experience in development sector with experience on agriculture and livelihood development. Out of the 4 years of experience required, minimum of 2 years of experience should be in the development sector.
  • A university degree in agriculture/ economics or related field.
  • Good knowledge in English, and Sinhala (knowledge in Tamil is preferred). Excellent writing skill is essential.
