The online volunteers will support the Nature for Development team in translating from Spanish to English a 17-page workshop report related to the workshop, Mapping Nature for People and Planet. Two volunteers will work together to produce an English version of the Spanish document. Each volunteer will translate approximately 5,500 words and then will proofread their partner's work. The translated version of this workshop report will play an essential role in disseminating the key project takeaways and will be an important asset in future Mapping Nature for People and Planet workshops.

    In May 2020, UNDP Nature for Development held the second phase of its Mapping Nature for People and Planet workshop in Costa Rica, co-hosted by the UNDP Country Office in Costa Rica and the Ministry of Environment and Energy (MINAE) of Costa Rica. The purpose of this workshop was to advance the technical spatial data expertise of Costa Rica's decision-makers in order to optimize the country's systematic conservation planning capacitues. To record the key takeaways of the workshop, the Costa Rican team created an in-depth workshop report in Spanish. UNDP Nature for Development is seeking essential translation support from someone familiar with translating documents from Spanish to English in order to amplify the impact of this report.

  • 1-5 hours per week / 4 weeks

    It is an asset, but not a requirement, that the online volunteers have previous experience in translating official documents from Spanish to English. Knowledge of biodiversity, spatial data. and/or systematic conservation planning is also an asset. The Online Volunteers with experience in translation must be willing to work in a team of two, be responsive, and strictly respect the deadlines.
