Contract

Climate change disproportionately burdens vulnerable population; specifically, climate change disproportionately impacts women, making them more vulnerable to systematic change than their male counterparts. It aggravates economic and political instability with unpredictable environmental conditions, confronting the low capacity of developing states to mitigate or recover such conditions (UNDESA, 2016 ). The predominantly agrarian economy in Cameroon North-western regions has been recognised to be the most vulnerable region nationally. Intersectional pressures including the coincidence of climate change, political unrest, and violence related to the Anglophone Crisis pose unequivocal threats to its populations (UNOCHA, 2022 ).

Land degradation and irregular rainfall have contributed to a 40% reduction of planted areas in Cameroon. Nationally poverty has increased 12% (+8.1 million people) between 2007-2014. 56% of this population is living in Northern regions; regional poverty is further intensified by the ‘Anglophone Crisis’ that has regionally displaced 675,000 civilians in Nortwestern and Southwestern regions of Cameroon. Socio-political and environmental instability in Northwest exacerbate the need for adaptive, climate-aware solutions to farming that sufficiently address women’s vulnerability and changing roles in economic and family capacities. To support the region in meeting these challenges, CAEPA’s climate change adaptation project target women’s empowerment through agricultural solutions to meet shifting climatic conditions whilst supporting gender equality measures on legal and social fronts. Additionally, it will contribute to Cameroon's Vision 2035 of becoming an emerging economy and the realisation of the SDGs

CAEPA is looking for two Online Volunteers with experience in grant proposal writing on climate change adaptation and mitigation. One volunteer will focus on the proposal narratives while the second volunteer will support with the work plan and defining milestones. To this end CAEPA will identify potential donors and call for proposals and share them with the Online Volunteers. CAEPA will provide them with the background information they need to write the proposal. Online volunteers will review, restructure and rewrite the drafts provided by CAEPA. Online volunteers will complete this task by writing two standard winning proposals. They will work with the Director. Online volunteers won't be asked to submit fundraising requests or to engage in direct negotiations with donors. Communication will be done through email, skype or whatasapp. At the end of the project, we will in collaboration with UNV issue a certificate of appreciation.
