Contract

This is a UNV contract. More about UNV contracts.

Irregular and poor rainfall in recent years led to a 40% reduction of planted areas in Cameroon. Severe land degradation has been observed throughout the years in Balikumbat subdivision in the North-West Region. Women farmers in Cameroon are seeking ways to improve their harvest yields, crop quality, and plant uniformity. They also seek to save water, reduce fertilizer and pesticide use, and improve their largest investment, their family and farm. With the environment gradually degrading and the conflict forcing people to look for new ways to make a living, there is an opportunity to empower women as farmers, by training and teaching innovative farming practices for sustainable growth while building business and commerce in the region. The purpose is to develop productive, profitable farming systems which conserve the energy, are environmentally sound, and ensure food safety and quality. This project has contributed towards a milestone of making Cameroon an emerging economy by 2035 thus contributing to the implementation of the SDGs. The case study has potential for replication and scale up in similar communities being impacted by climate change

We have completed the implementation of a two-year project on women climate justice solutions in agriculture. We are looking for two online volunteers to support us write a case study of 1500 to 2500words of between 3-5pages to share with our donor and partner and also publish it on our website for visibility. One volunteer will support us in developing the prior script while the second volunteer will review and finalise the case study document. CAEPA Director will share project document and reports to volunteers. Communication will be through email or whatsapp. At the end we will in collaboration with UNV issue a certificate as appreciation

Volunteers must have a very strong command of English. This task requires strong mastery of the English Language and its subtleties. Strong writing and editing skills are required. Familiarity with technical terms related to gender-based violence and disaster management will be considered an advantage. Please attach a short writing sample to your application.
