Organizational Setting

The project objective is to contribute to the national processes of strengthening family farmers in Brazil for poverty reduction and rural revitalization. The outcome is to implement differentiated policies and programs that improve the capacities of the national government, local and family farmers in areas such as ATER (rural extension and technical advisory services), Credit Programs, land access and governance, access to markets and the strengthening of cooperativism.

Reporting Lines

The incumbent reports to the Assistant Representative in FAO Brazil – Programme.

Technical Focus

To carry out surveys, studies and analyses on violence in the countryside, forest and waters, considering the negative impacts resulting from these processes on the economic and social condition of family farming families and traditional peoples and communities.

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Conduct bibliographic research and data and information surveys in institutional documents and tools. • Prepare reports and data spreadsheets, in a format to be specified, pertinent to the activities of this Term of Reference. • To define, together with the supervision of the assignment, which states should be selected as the object of analysis in each of the geographic regions. • Assist the project in meetings with of the proposing entities, present the partial and final results of the products, upon demand of DEMCA/MDA and provide the requested information and clarifications. • Support the project in workshops and meetings relevant to the elaboration of the assignment products, upon demand of DEMCA/SE/MDA. Support in monitoring the actions developed on the subject of the assignment • Provide the MDA with information and parameters regarding the topic pertinent to this Term of Reference. • Carry out systematization of the material produced in the Seminar Talks of the Earth. • Prepare the Work Plan and the Products as established in this Term of Reference.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING:

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in human sciences or Applied Social Sciences, according to the table of areas of knowledge of CAPES/CNPq. • Minimum experience of 08 (eight) years in human rights, or activities related to combating violence against family farmers, landless, indigenous, quilombolas and/or other traditional peoples and communities. In case of having specialization and 05 (five) years of experience in the requested areas. In case of having Master's degree and 03 (three) years of experience in the requested areas and in case of having a Doctorate and 02 (two) years of experience in the requested areas. • Working knowledge (level C) of English or Spanish and Portuguese; • Brazilian Nationality or other legally authorized to work in Brazil.

Technical/Functional Skills

Desirable experience in data collection and systematization in public policies aimed at family farming (PRONERA, Agrarian Reform, policies for traditional peoples and communities).
