Job Description

Job Background/Overview:

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a committed fundraiser, who will develop and deepen partnerships within faith-based communities in support of our mission to help refugees survive, recover and gain control of their future. Reporting to the Director, Faith-Based Giving & Membership and joining the recently formed New Funding and Innovation team, the Senior Officer, Faith-Based Partnerships is a self-motivated, curious, innovative, and creative person with experience building client relationships, identifying and developing opportunities, project management, and strong interpersonal skills.

Since its inception in 1933, the IRC offers lifesaving care and life-changing assistance to refugees fleeing from war or disaster. This role is part of the International Philanthropy and Partnerships (IPP) unit, which leads on the IRC's engagement with corporations, foundations, international philanthropists, and new global funding streams.

The ideal candidate has a deep knowledge of religious communities, extensive networks within those communities, and experience or demonstrated interest in building faith-based partnerships. As an account manager with a dedicated portfolio of faith-based partnerships they will cultivate, steward, and solicit faith-based partners, and will build tailored fundraising strategies and activations, focusing on sustained revenue generation and humanitarian impact. They will also demonstrate passion for the IRC's mission, nuanced understanding of private sector fundraising, and dedication to the organization's diversity, equity, and inclusion values.

Major Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the Director, Faith-Based Giving & Membership to cultivate a $2M USD portfolio of partners in support of IRC’s Strategy100 with a focus on diversified funding streams, growing unrestricted funds, and expanding influence;

• Lead on developing a series of high profile, creative, and impactful partnerships with faith-based partners to serve our clients across the world, while offering partners innovative outlets to deploy philanthropic solutions supporting our humanitarian agenda;

• Design and implement creative outreach, solicitation, and management strategies for partners within the portfolio, such as pitches, proposal submissions, and partnership discussions;

• Develop materials for partners or prospects, including proposed partnership overviews and activation ideas, concept notes, proposals, presentations, and reports, from drafts through to final line-editing and formatting;

• Support the identification of existing and new networks of contacts for the purpose of raising funds across every major global religious environment including but not limited to Muslim, Jewish, Christian, Hindu, Baha’i, Buddhist, and Sikh networks;

• Lead the development and implementation of the global religious advisory board strategy in collaboration with the Director of Faith-Based Giving & Membership, IPP, and other External Relations teams across the IRC.

Essential Qualifications:

Work Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent experience;

• Experience working with or strong interest in faith-based communities;

• Demonstrated experience of front-line fundraising and/or partnership development of faith-based communities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment;

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

• Ability to develop thoughtful project management plans and implement them in timely and detailed fashion;

• Shown organizational and time leadership skills: work accurately and productively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to shifting priorities;

• Excellent interpersonal skills and written and oral communication skills: the ability to interact with a variety of internal and external contacts with confidence and poise.

Desired Qualifications:

• Strong project management skills, experience working on multiple projects with global cross-functional teams;

Working Environment:

This role may require working remotely full- or part-time (i.e., telecommuting). Applicants must have a home or alternate workspace they can effectively complete their work from during regularly scheduled hours.
