IRC UK IRC UK is part of the IRC global network, which has its global headquarters in New York. Our team in the UK works to raise profile, deliver policy and practice change, and increase funding to help restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing and power to people devastated by conflict and disaster. Since 2021, IRC UK has also provided integration services directly to refugees in England, a programme that is rapidly growing.

In Europe, the IRC also has offices in Berlin, Bonn, Brussels, Geneva and Stockholm.

Job Overview:

- As Senior Manager, Digital Engagement UK, you are part of the International Rescue Committee’s global Digital team and UK Communications function, which sits within the External Relations department. The purpose of the Digital Engagement team is to increase the IRC’s online reach, growth and engagement to inspire our audiences to give more and stay longer. - Responsible for a team of digital staff, the Senior Manager, Digital Engagement UK, works with the Communications Director UK and Senior Director of Digital Engagement to develop and implement the UK Digital strategy, and oversees management of Rescue.org/UK, all @Rescue_UK social media channels, the UK digital influencer programme, and all content created for channels within the Digital Engagement portfolio.

Major Responsibilities:

- Working with the Communications Director UK and Senior Director of Digital Engagement develop and implement the UK Digital Engagement strategy, ensuring it aligns with the UK Communications strategy, supports the objectives of the UK Strategic Plan, and global Digital Engagement strategic goals. - Lead the UK Digital Engagement team, comprising roles across social media and website. Set and review progress against the team’s objectives, ensure they are supported, highly motivated and performing to their best ability to increase the impact of the IRC’s digital outputs. - Partner with the Advocacy, Mass Markets and Media & PR team to ensure UK Digital strategies, priorities and target audiences are aligned with the UK income, profile and influence goals. - Work with the Communications Director UK to agree on and track expenditure on digital activities. - Where required, represent Digital Engagement at meetings. - As Digital Engagement lead for DEC appeals ensure smooth collaboration with peer functions in order to maximise revenue and follow best practice for digital channels. - Run or oversee the management of digital brand awareness campaigns to raise the profile of the IRC in the UK and increase online reach and growth. - Run or oversee the management of paid advertising campaigns in order to grow our digital channels, using the Digital Engagement budget or external grants ie. from LinkedIn/TikTok - Work with the Senior Director of Digital Engagement on global digital strategies. Support and lead on global work as needed, for example as digital lead for an integrated priority moment. - With the support of the Global Analytics team, ensure KPIs are set and tracked for all digital channels and use this data to adjust strategies as necessary. - Support the UK Director of Communications with the development and implementation of the UK brand strategy. - As UK brand focal point, work with peer functions to ensure that all assets produced and distributed in the UK adhere to the IRC’s global brand guidelines. - Partner with UK External Relations stakeholders to increase opportunities for digital campaigning and influence via digital channels. - Partner with UK Mass Markets and Global Digital Fundraising teams to ensure UK digital channels are optimised for conversions. - Oversee and support the work of the UK Digital Engagement team to ensure UK programme storytelling opportunities are maximised and support both the UK Strategic Plan and Digital Engagement Goals. - Support the Senior Director, Digital Engagement, in investment cases for additional resources for the UK Digital Engagement team. - Draft reports for the UK Director of Communications and Senior Director of Digital Engagement. - Ensure the team is abreast of the latest best practice for the channels it manages, including SEO and influencer relations, and organise trainings as necessary. - Ensure that all Digital Engagement outputs adhere to the IRC’s global brand. - Work with Communications Director UK to hire freelancers/ agencies as required to support team capacity and for special projects.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Work Experience:

- Experience of reporting on and analysing digital campaigns and the ability to use Google Analytics

- Experience in CMS management and/or website development projects

- Experience in managing social media channels for a brand

- Experience of working to tight deadlines to deliver high quality content and campaigns

- Experience of working in a complex environment with multiple stakeholders

- Experience of managing a team

- Experience in creating written and/or video content designed to engage a consumer audience via digital channels

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

- Deep understanding of Search Engine Optimisation, and a clear understanding of how Google’s algorithm ranks pages - Excellent knowledge of user experience and digital optimisation - Excellent knowledge of testing and optimisation tools - Excellent English language writing, editing and proofreading skills and experience of producing engaging materials for digital channels - Strong ability to think creatively and produce innovative content - Good organisational and time management skills and the ability to work to deadlines, prioritise and multi-task in a fast-paced environment - Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues in the UK and overseas - A proactive approach to problem solving - Ability to work both independently and in a dynamic, cross-functional global team structure - Ability to manage and work through change in a proactive and positive manner.

Preferred experience & skills:

- Experience of working with a creative agency and/or charitable organisation in a similar role

- Good understanding or interest in international affairs, particularly of conflict and complex humanitarian crises and issues

- Understanding of digital fundraising and advocacy and optimising digital channels for conversion.

Working Environment:

- Be flexible as to working hours, in particular when unforeseen circumstances arise which require speedy responsiveness

- Be prepared to travel to the IRC offices in the US and Europe circa once a year primarily for External Relations meetings
