This is a hybrid position which requires 8 days per month in the office. You can be based in our WRI Europe office in London or The Hague.

This will be a 12 month, limited term contract with the possibility of renewal.

About the Program:

The Nature Crime Alliance is a global, multi-sector network that increases political will, mobilises financial commitment, and bolsters operational capacity to fight nature crime. Communications activities play a central role in elevating the profile of the Alliance; raising awareness of the impact of nature crime; and in amplifying solutions. The Alliance Secretariat is therefore increasing the capacity of its Communications team.

Job Highlight:

Reporting to the Communications Manager, you will support in the daily running of the Alliance’s communications function, and manage specific Alliance channels and products. The role offers an exciting opportunity for someone seeking exposure to a full range of communications activities. You will be supported by the Alliance Communications Manager and the wider team, as well as the WRI communications community.

What will you do:

Develop content and themes for Alliance communications (30%):

  • Undertake web-based research and engaging with the Alliance network to identify new developments in nature crime that could be of interest to the Alliance and its members
  • Collate information from other channels (e.g. meeting insights)

Deliver Alliance communications products (30%):

  • Support in the drafting and dissemination of Alliance digital products, such as regular newsletters
  • Draft and publish news articles, blog posts and social media content to support Alliance communications aims

Manage digital channels (30%):

  • Help manage Alliance social media channels, namely X and LinkedIn, and launching an Alliance Instagram presence in 2024
  • Help to maintain the Alliance website, including making updates and creating original content

Support with event logistics and communications administration (10%):

  • Support the organization of Alliance events including audience-build and communications based logistical support
  • Other administrative duties in support of Alliance communications work, including some note taking.

What will you need:

  • Education: You have completed a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or an additional 4 years of experience
  • Experience: You have experience in managing channels such as websites and social media
  • Demonstrated writing skills
  • Experience working within a team
  • A demonstrated interest in environmental issues
  • Design and video skills are desirable
  • Languages: You are proficient in spoken and written English
  • Requirements: Existing work authorization is required where this position is based. WRI is unable to authorize visa work authorization.

Potential Salary:

£26,000 - £32,000 if based in the UK

€38,000 – €45,000 if based in the Netherlands

Salary is commensurate with experience and other compensable factors.
